Totally Awesome 80's Halloween Party at the Nest!

Hi Everyone! Chasity here! I am so excited to share with you a peek inside the 3Birds Nest! Here at 3Birds, we LOVE Halloween. Every year we throw the most EPIC Halloween office parties in Cleveland! Yes, it's true we work hard, but that's just so we can play harder! This year we themed our annual Halloween Party "Totally 80's"! We have had a blast the past couple of weeks planning the party, choosing costumes, and inviting the nieghbors! We even had some throwback decorations brought in for the party such as an old school MAC computer, that still works! (Floppy discs and all!) Also appearing at the party were many Troll Dolls, bean bag chairs, an original walkman, multiple boom boxes, a T.V. in a wooden case and more! See if you can spot these items in the pictures! Wednesday was the big event, and it truly was a blast. Probably one of the best. So we wanted to share a little of our fun with you! Hope you enjoy!

Everyone came up with some very clever costumes! It was awesome to see everyone's creativity with their costumes from T.V. shows to characters from movies to just what they wore in that decade! I chose a costume from my favorite movie of the decade. I was Elliot and E.T. in the infamous bike ride scene! Here is a close up of my Extra Terrestrial! I think I saw this movie about 12 times in the theater when it first came out. It will forever be one of my most favorite movies! Here is the rest of the costume, my daughters BMX Bike, complete with the basket to hold E.T., and some Reese's Pieces! YUM! Annette, one very talented Assistant Creative Director/Designer from the Nest came up with this creative costume… from a popular T.V. Game Show. She was prepared for the "Physical Challenge" complete with elbow and knee pads! We did actually get some work done in the morning hours before the party. But It was a strange sight to see a "Shark" hard at work at the creative table! This photo cracks me up! Oh, and this Shark, aka Allison, is the mastermind behind the amazing cake we had for the party! Check out the mad skills on this chick!You can find some amazing 80's references on this cake! It was almost too pretty to eat! 

So here are some of the party decorations, complete with the Rubik's Cube and a photo booth! Amanda went all out on making this a decked out 80's party!  We also played an awesome game of "Family Feud". "Lydia" from "Beetlejuice", aka Amanda, was the host of the game complete with the working "Survey Says" board and buzzers! She really turned it up a notch! We played against a neighboring studio. They were awesome and this was a highlight of the party.Our Team won, of course! How could we not? we had Maverick from Top Gun, Axl Rose and a Nerd on our team! Besides, this is a very competitive bunch! Look what happens you get an answer wrong!Hahaha…ok... not really! But Jasen, the Nerd, was a good sport! Here are a few photo booth pics of some 80's Chicks, and Maverick, along with most of the 3Birds Crew! What a bunch of characters! We had a costume contest that ended in an arm wrestling contest due to a tie! I warned you they were competitive! Even though Frank, our awesome Creative Director, eluded the camera most of the afternoon, he joined in the group photo! Along with Doug, clearly a member of KISS.

Touch Of Glimmer Cards

Hello 3 Birds Fans! It's Juliana here and I'm sharing a pair of cards that I created with the new Touch of Glimmer Kit. This kit is full of all things shiny and happy and it makes card creating a breeze!

For both cards, I created the card base from a piece of white cardstock. I then created the card front using a piece of patterned paper from the Graceful Season 6x6 Paper Pad. To create this Thank You Card, I layered various gold and peach pieces from the kit including chipboard, die cuts and sequins.



To add a little more bling, I attached some clear jewels from the Pearlescent & Foil Goodie Box to the center of the sequins using Glossy Accents to adhere them.

 

To create the Congrats card, I focused on using silver elements from the kit and again layered various pieces to decorate the card front.


 

And just like the Thank You card, I added jewels to the center of the sequins. I really love the extra bling they add to the card!

Silver & Gold

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made that focuses on the Flora Festival Premier Page Kit and the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment Kit.

This layout starts with a fabulous sheet of paper from the Premier Page Kit. I love the look of this paper for the outdoor photo that I used. Combining this paper with a peach sticker and doilies, gave me just the base I was looking for.

I layered some beautiful elements from the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment Kit. These coordinate perfectly with the Page Kit. Notice the glittery and foil accents that are on these pieces! So beautiful!

This close-up shows more embellishments that are included in the kits. I love the dimensional sticker pieces. They make layering so easy!

DESIGNER TIP | Don't be afraid to mix gold and silver. They work so well together!

The Pearlescent and Foil Goodie Box jewels go great with the foil accents that are included in this kit! 3 Birds does it again with making their releases go so seamlessly together!

Mix & Match Everyday

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made using a mix of 3 Birds products. This layout is all about texture and finishes. I really like to mix texture for pages. In addition to different textures being great for things you can touch, texture can also bring visual dimension and interest.

The layout features many different 3 Birds products. I included chipboard, dimensional stickers, flat stickers and pearlescent pieces. Each of them has a different finish and detailing.

In this close-up you can see many different visual textures in one small space. There is glitter, flat chipboard, smooth pearlescent pieces and the sheen of foil accents, in addition to a canvas and burlap flower from my stash.

This close-up shows many of the same textures and ribbon is added. For more detail and to mix the dimension, I added foam dots to the back of the flower and chipboard circle.

More layers that include all the parts and pieces come together on the bottom corner of the photo. I purposely used the larger pieces in this section to add weight to the bottom of the page.

DESIGNER TIP | Chipboard layers perfectly over the dimensional stickers. It is strong enough to hold its' shape to stand the test of time in your books.

17turtles + 3 Birds Creative Team Up | Life Is

I hope you all are enjoying our Creative Team Up with 17turtles digital cut files and the great 3 Birds products. It’s Katrina to share a layout using the Midday Medley collection teamed up with the new Touch of Glimmer kit.

I used the 17turtles Circles Within Circles file for my layout. It worked well with the embellishments in the Touch of Glimmer kit. I made a collage out of some of the embellishments for my title and then tucked some of the circles around it.

I did the same thing with one of the other embellishments, but used the circles that I had cut in larger sizes as a base for the “smile” embellishment.

I used some of the cards that came in the kit for some layers and then added an embellishment on top of them. There are also SEQUINS (!!!) in the kit, which I used in the middle of some of the embellishments also.

And in case you are wondering, 3 Birds Design papers cut BEAUTIFULLY in your die cutting machine. Not only the pattern papers, but the foil and glitter papers also!

17turtles + 3 Birds Creative Team Up | InstaFun

All this week the 3 Birds team has been showcasing the fabulous digital cut files from 17turtles, and today is my day to share! There are so many cute designs in the 17turtles store, I had a hard time choosing, but I finally decided on “Everyday Polaroids 1”. I especially love that it not only has the polaroids, but five different titles too!

To start my layout, I cut the Polaroid frame strip, then cut pieces to fill each frame and added them along with my photo to the back of the frames. Next, I backed the frame strip with a coordinating color cardstock.

Once I had my Polaroid frames cut, then it was time for my title. The “insta fun” was perfect to use with my photos, and looks so pretty cut out of the gold glitter paper from the 8x8 Glitter Paper Pad. I just love the glitter paper, and it cuts so smoothly with my die cutting machine!

Next came the darling embellishments that are all from the Flora Festival Premier Page Kit. If you haven’t seen the page kit yet, be sure to check it out! It comes with beautiful papers, chipboard pieces, 3d stickers, borders, and more!



I also added some sequins and the super sweet little bow from the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment Kit; it gives just the perfect amount of dimension to my layout!

17 Turtles + 3Birds Creative Team Up | Happy

Welcome 3 Birds fans! It's Juliana of 17turtles Digital Cut Files and I'm so excited to be teaming up with 3 Birds Design this week. I have loved working with digital cut files for many years on my scrapbook pages and when you combine them with great paper crafting products, such as 3 Birds, you definitely have a winning combination!

To create this layout about me and my mom, I used the 17turtles Butterflies No. 1, Random Lace Flowers and This Is Magic cut files.

The background piece is cut using the Random Lace Flowers and a piece of patterned paper from the Flora Festival Kit. This paper cuts beautifully using the Patterned Paper settings on my Silhouette Cameo.



The Butterflies No. 1 is cut from the glitter paper that is part of the Midday Medley collection and the butterflies are about 1 inch in height. The 3 Birds glitter paper cuts like butter using the Glittered Cardstock settings on my Silhouette Cameo. I adhered the butterflies to the layout using double sided foam tape to give them some added dimension. I clustered them with stickers from the Sticker Flair Mega Kit and chipboard pieces from the Flora Festival Kit.



The final touch was to add a title using the This Is Magic cut file and more of the Midday Medley glitter paper.

Happy Monday Everyone! Chasity here to share a layout I completed over the weekend using a cut file from the AMAZING 17 Turtles! Super excited about these files and how easy they are to use! I used the 17turtles Spider Web digital cut file as I am totally in the Halloween spirit! Eeeek! It's almost here! 



For this layout I did something a little different. Instead of using the positive piece of the die cut web, I used the negative, or "fall out" pieces, to create a fun mask and spray my background paper. The background paper is from the Midday Medley Paper Pack. I started by cutting the 17 Turtles Web cut file on my Silhouette Cameo. I layered the negative pieces on top of my background paper using the actual positive pieces as a guide for placement. Then, I used Heidi Swapp's Color Mist, Black iridescent, to spray my mask. Here is what it looked like as I was spraying it, and removing the negative pieces. As you can see I sprayed 2 12" x 12" pieces, I am not sure what I want to do with the other side just yet!



Once I had my background paper sprayed and dried, I focused on how I was going to layer the other elements on the page. I cut the smaller spider web file out of the Black Glitter Paper, also in the Midday Medley Paper Pack. It really does cut so smoothly in machines! I cut that die cut in half and placed it under some of my page elements on my layout.



Next I cut a title out of the Silver Glitter Paper, using my own handwriting, and the Silhouette.



I encourage anyone who hasn't tried to cut our paper in an electronic die cut machine, DO IT! You won't be disappointed! I finished off my layout by arranging all the elements and the title on the page and gluing them down. I also added some buttons and twine as the finishing touches.

I really enjoyed using the 17 Turtles cut files! There's so many uses for them...I'm actually off to the store right now to buy some Vinyl! I want to cut some spooky webs to dress up the corners of my mirrors for our "Haunted House"! Maybe I'll post pictures later to show you how they turned out! Hope you enjoyed stopping by today!

October Show at HSN|Behind the Scenes!

Have you ever wondered what it's like in the HSN Studio? How all the Guests and Hosts come together to make 24 hours of crafting for us to enjoy? Sometimes I think I take for granted that the HSN campus has become my "home-away-from-home"! Chasity here today to share some "behind the scenes" moments from the HSN show last week! I hope this gives a little insight to the inside world that I have grown to loves as HSN! The live shows are a well oiled machine that is Home Shopping Network! It never ceases to amazing me how they pull this 24 hour craft day together so seamlessly! Here is one of the framed prints that hung on set all day to promote the 24 Hour Craft Event! The on air sets change so quickly around there, so don't blink!

This shot is of our beautiful Leslee Brackin getting ready to go live on air! This is how close I am to the set. There are people roaming around controlling cameras, checking lighting, making sure the Hosts' and Guests' mics work... Everyone plays an important role to making this look so easy!  The set tables are on wheels so they can be easily rolled on and off set quickly.

Here is  the "Stage Manager". He makes sure everything goes as it's supposed to. They change throughout the day, but each one is always helpful and knowledgeable. He is also the person who makes sure that I have my flash off on set.. which is a huge "No-No!"This is a pic of the "Show Room". This is where we can find the products that are going on air and set tables with the product and samples before it's rolled onto the set. This is the table I set for the Flora Festival Kit that debuted last Tuesday!

Here is Leslee getting mic'd for the show in the green room. Isn't it funny that they call it a green room and in fact, it isn't green at all!?!  The staff will come to the green room and make sure the guests are ready for their on air presentation!

Did any of you check out the awesomely talented scrapbook ladies that joined in on the 24 hour fun? These women had major crafting mojo! How fun to be at HSN and crafting! WOW!



 

Now, This guy is just amazing! I love when our 3Birds Guests are on air with Bill Green! He is a hoot, he knows the product, and he always has amazing chemistry with the Guests! So may of the Guests love working with him. Speaking of Guests, I hope that you guys had a chance to see all the other fabulous Guests that were on that day! All my favorite peeps were in the house! Beth Kingston, Anna Griffin with the TS, Andrew Hiller and the awesome Lisa Bearnson... just to name a few! Here is a picture of Beth and Leslee hanging out in between shows in the HSN lounge!

Here is a picture of Leslee and I in the greenroom after 23 hours of no sleep, and that is why she goes on air! She still looks amazing!



This HSN sign is in the hallway when you enter the studio. It's true, it is fun here! We also even had time to sneak in a baby shower for a very special person at HSN on Wednesday! It was hosted by Anna Griffin and Beth Kingston! 2 of the most amazingly creative ladies I know! They did such a perfect job! From the Photo Booth seen here, to the cake and decorations. Simply breathtaking! Great job ladies! And she was surprised!
