Christmas Banner

The holiday season is here 3Birds friends, and today I have a fun little banner to share with you that would look great hanging from a mantle or even draped across a window!

Christmas Banner by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds DesignThis was so quick and easy to make using cards from the For All Seasons Themed Cards. I choose six color coordinating pieces from the Winter set, and then to give them a bit of sparkle, backed them all with gold glitter paper from the 8x8 Glitter Paper Pad. For the “Happy Holidays” piece, I also added my version of a Christmas poinsettia by using both gold and red pieces from the Holiday Season Edition of the Quilled Cardmaking Kit, by first spinning the gold layer, then adding the red layer.

To tie it all together I used gold and white sparkly Baker's twine, but ribbon would also work great too!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, be sure to come back by tomorrow to see what Katrina has to share!

Give Thanks Embroidery Hoop Fall Home Decor

I cannot believe fall is here and it’s almost Thanksgiving here in the US. November is half over and Christmas will be here before we know it! But I am keeping with Thanksgiving here on the blog.

This project is super easy to create and would look great greeting your visitors or as a centerpiece for a table.

Give Thanks Embroidery Hoop Fall Home Decor by Katrina Hunt for 3 Birds DesignThis is just a wooden embroidery hoop that I altered to use as a decoration. I have a few of these around, because I used to cross-stitch. But, you can find these in your local craft store or for cheap at flea markets!

I used the Midday Medley paper collection, Nestable Sticker pad, For All Seasons cards, and the Pearlescent and Foil Goodie box to create with. I pulled out the “Give Thanks” card and then added some layers behind it, popping them up with some foam adhesive.

Give Thanks Embroidery Hoop Fall Home Decor by Katrina Hunt for 3 Birds DesignI added the die cut leaf wreath under the card cluster as an accent. Then I decided it needed a little glam and then added a few of the Pearlescent goodies to it near the cards.

Give Thanks Embroidery Hoop Fall Home Decor by Katrina Hunt for 3 Birds DesignThe sticker was easy to add to the edge, you just have to plan! And have some baby powder on hand. Just pull the sticker out of the pad carefully and then sprinkle baby powder all over the sticky back. This will take away the stickiness, but you will still be able to attach the sticker with adhesive dots or liquid glue on the parts that are touching the hoop. I did have to trim my sticker slightly to make it fit, but I covered that part up with a bow!

I Believe in Santa Claus | Scrapbook Page

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made. I'm ready for the holiday season to begin and with all the great choices of new products from 3 Birds, I couldn't resist making a Christmas page!

I Believe Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design

The title sticker was a natural fit because of the photo, too. I chose it because it echoes the print on Mom's shirt.

DESIGNER TIP | I added foam to the back of the sticker to make it easier to layer and to match up with the dimension of the other embellishments.

More layering was added with the flat stickers that were used for design and the terrific poinsettias that are included in the quilling kit. Here, I used pink centers to continue the non-traditional color choices.

The final touches include a big bow and more bits and pieces from the Quilled Card Kit Holiday season Edition.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Silver & Gold

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made that focuses on the Flora Festival Premier Page Kit and the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment Kit.

Remember Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThis layout starts with a fabulous sheet of paper from the Premier Page Kit. I love the look of this paper for the outdoor photo that I used. Combining this paper with a peach sticker and doilies, gave me just the base I was looking for.

Remember Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignI layered some beautiful elements from the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment Kit. These coordinate perfectly with the Page Kit. Notice the glittery and foil accents that are on these pieces! So beautiful!

Remember Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThis close-up shows more embellishments that are included in the kits. I love the dimensional sticker pieces. They make layering so easy!

DESIGNER TIP | Don't be afraid to mix gold and silver. They work so well together!

Remember Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThe Pearlescent and Foil Goodie Box jewels go great with the foil accents that are included in this kit! 3 Birds does it again with making their releases go so seamlessly together!

Mix & Match Everyday

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made using a mix of 3 Birds products. This layout is all about texture and finishes. I really like to mix texture for pages. In addition to different textures being great for things you can touch, texture can also bring visual dimension and interest.

Everyday Scrapbook page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThe layout features many different 3 Birds products. I included chipboard, dimensional stickers, flat stickers and pearlescent pieces. Each of them has a different finish and detailing.

Everyday Scrapbook page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignIn this close-up you can see many different visual textures in one small space. There is glitter, flat chipboard, smooth pearlescent pieces and the sheen of foil accents, in addition to a canvas and burlap flower from my stash.

Everyday Scrapbook page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThis close-up shows many of the same textures and ribbon is added. For more detail and to mix the dimension, I added foam dots to the back of the flower and chipboard circle.

Everyday Scrapbook page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignMore layers that include all the parts and pieces come together on the bottom corner of the photo. I purposely used the larger pieces in this section to add weight to the bottom of the page.

DESIGNER TIP | Chipboard layers perfectly over the dimensional stickers. It is strong enough to hold its' shape to stand the test of time in your books.

Mixing & Matching With 3 Birds Design

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made using a mix of 3 Birds products. One of the things that I have loved about all the new releases is the way that they blend with the past collections and releases so seamlessly. For my layout, I pulled chipboard from the Graceful Seasons collection, paper from the Floral Festival Page Kit, Stickers from the Midday Medley collection and more!

Tool Time Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThe layout was built around the picture,of course. I thought it was so cute and I wanted to play up the hammer she is holding. There are so many great silver pieces spread throughout the collections, so that became the common thread in the embellishing. The silver chipboard alphabets fit perfectly with this idea.

Tool Time Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignA journal card and and silver sequins that are included in the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment kit were sweet additions to the page. Notice the tiny pink bows on the card. It goes really well with the oval stickers that i chose from the Midday Medley Sticker Pad.

Tool Time Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignTo embellish near the photo, I added a few things from my stash and layered chipboard flowers that are in the chipboard set. Finally, if you take a close look, you will see that the photo is matted with a glittery piece that is also included in the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment kit. That got me thinking that I wanted to add a bit of glitter to punched leaves that I tucked behind the roses.

Tool Time Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThe page still seemed to be lacking a little something, so a added some blue and lavender stitching to pull the whole thing together.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Halloween Treat Set

Halloween is just around the corner and we are giving you some fun ideas here on the 3 Birds Studio blog. I am sharing some fun and quick treat bags, along with a card for those special goblins that come to trick or treat.

Halloween Treat Card Set by Katrina Hunt for 3 Birds DesignI used the Graceful Season and Midday Medley Paper Collections. These have all the right colors for Halloween goodness! This witches hat treat bag was create from the Graceful Season foil pad and the 12 x 12 paper pad. I love the green foil paper!

Halloween Treat Card Set by Katrina Hunt for 3 Birds DesignThese treat bags are very easy to create with or without a die cutting machine, so don’t feel like you need to have a die cutting machine to make treat bags. Find a pattern online, trace it or simply just add lot of embellishments to make your toppers. Then attach your “centerpiece” to a piece of pattern paper that is the width of your bag and folded over. To attach your assembled piece onto your sandwich bags, just use a stapler!

And then I made a fun card to go along with the treat bags. The bats were just adorable and I thought the Midday Medley Glitter Paper would be perfect for them.

Halloween Treat Card Set by Katrina Hunt for 3 Birds DesignThe card just slips out and is basically a tag. I haven’t come up with the perfect spooky saying yet, so I have left it blank for now! And an added touch with the Pearlescent and Foil Goodies!

You can make these for all sorts of celebrations and occasions. These would be adorable with pumpkins, cornstalks, and cornucopias for Thanksgiving! Thanks for stopping by today. BOO!

Crafting With Found Items | Fall Home Decor

Last week while I was cooking dinner, I noticed that the jar the pasta sauce came in was such a nice shape and thought maybe, just maybe I could make something fun out of it. That got the ideas going, and before I knew it, I had two home décor projects ready for Fall.

So how about a pasta sauce tealight holder!

Crafting with found items Fall Home Decor by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds Design

Once I had the jar rinsed and dried, I added orange paint to the inside. I rolled it from side to side, making sure all areas of the glass were covered, and then let it sit overnight to dry. To decorate the outside, I cut the “Fall” themed card into an oval, and fussy cut the floral swag, both from the Autumn For All Seasons Themed Card set, then added a few gems from the Pearlescent and Foil Goodie Box Set.

Crafting with found items Fall Home Decor by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds DesignAfter decorating the jar, I added a ribbon to the top and a tealight to the inside! It looks just as pretty during the day as it does at night!

For my next “found item” project, can you believe I used a tuna can?

Crafting with found items Fall Home Decor by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds DesignAfter cleaning and drying the can, I gave it a coat of orange paint and let it sit long enough for the paint to dry. Next I cut a circle with a 3” punch and added the cute face cut from cardstock. The stem is a scrap of paper, and the leaves and vines were made from green quilling strips in the new Holiday Season Quilled Card Making Kit.

Crafting with found items Fall Home Decor by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds DesignI didn’t worry about the back or inside of the can since I was going to sit it on a shelf, but you could also cover the back of the can with a scrap of paper too.

Thanks so much for stopping by the 3 Birds blog today, we love to inspire!

Happy Scrapbook Page

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made with the Midday Medley Collection. This page was done using a sweet family photo. It doesn't have journaling or say a lot, but the picture told the story in a small way on its own.

Happy Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignSometimes, I just want to create without worrying about the perfect title or journaling. Admittedly, I'm not a big on journaling in the first place and on this one I simply added one of the 3D Embellishment for a title.

Happy Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThe creative process included some fussy cutting and stitching. I wanted to add a couple of butterflies to the page, but would you believe that I don't have have a butterfly punch? I DO have a flower punch though, so I just cut off one of the petals and I had tiny butterflies! This might not have worked but the stitching completed the idea.

Happy Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignI also added some punched flowers to the centers of the fussy cut flowers. I wanted to add some dimension an interest to the centers. They were finished off with the pearlescent pieces.

Happy Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignDESIGNER TIP | To give your flat flowers some dimension, a really easy way to do it is to cut a small slit in between each of the petals. If you want them to be hard and hold up well in your scrapbook, use a glue stick and start by gluing two together before you shape them. Shape them before they are dry and when they are totally dry, they will be hard.

DESIGNER TIP | One more tip on glue sticks. Not all glue sticks are created equal. For a glue stick that hardens and holds every time, my favorite is the RoseArt glue sticks. The best part about that is they are also the least expensive ones that I've found.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Quick & Easy Cards & Tags Using Scraps

Hi everyone! It's Robbie today to share some cards and a tag inspired by... ME! Seriously, why not stretch an idea even further? Recently, I made a two page layout (Zoo Fun Day) for the 3 Birds Design Studio blog and I was really happy with the color combination that I ended up using. While it was all sitting on the table, I realized that I had a lot of scraps and all the supplies at my fingertips which led me to make a couple of quick cards and tag to have on hand.

Quick and Easy Cards and Tags by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignIf you were to look back at my layout, you will notice that in addition to the paper and color choices, I also repeated a lot of the same techniques and elements that I used on the layouts. It really made these come together quickly.

Quick and Easy Cards and Tags by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThe colors that I used in the layout happened to really compliment kraft paper, too. I used a little pre-made kraft tag and added a kraft bag to the photo to show the whole set.

Quick and Easy Cards and Tags by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignUsing the same doilies and stitching ideas that were on the layout worked nicely for the cards, too.

DESIGNER TIP | When stitching the doilies for cards, be sure to stitch them ahead of time and adhere them after. This will cut down on trying o cover the backside of your stitching on the inside of the card.

Quick and Easy Cards and Tags by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignMore details that were copied from the original layout and used on the cards include the punched borders, the ribbons and even the same pearl goodies.

Remember next time you make a project you like to think about getting some cards or tags made to have on hand! It's always great, especially with the busy holiday season around the corner, to have these handy when you need them!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Quick & Easy Masculine Birthday Cards

Welcome 3 Birds Fans! Juliana here to share a couple of quick and easy masculine birthday cards. I love to create more than one card when I have my supplies out and that is exactly what I did when I sat down to create a birthday card for my husband who just recently celebrated his birthday.

Masculine Birthday Cards by Juliana Michaels for 3 Birds Design

The first thing I did was to go through the stickers in the Sticker Flair Kit looking for some masculine looking birthday sentiments and I found the "Happy Birthday" and "Best Wishes" stickers.

Best Wishes Masculine Card by Juliana Michaels for 3 Birds Design Best Wishes Masculine Card by Juliana Michaels for 3 Birds Design

I then pulled out some of my scrap papers that I had coordinated and had a masculine feel. Then it was just a matter of cutting and trimming the papers to size. To finish each of them off, I added some pearls from the new Pearlescent & Foil Goodie Box. Who ever said that jewels are just for girls?

Happy Birthday Masculine Card by Juliana Michaels for 3 Birds Design Happy Birthday Masculine Card by Juliana Michaels for 3 Birds DesignSpeaking of girls, while I had all of my 3 Birds out on my scrapbook table, I decided to make a couple of quick & easy feminine birthday cards as well. Visit my blog - 17turtles - and you can see them!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed the cards I created to share with you!

HUGS!

Zoo Fun Day | September Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone! It's Robbie today to share my take on the cute 2 page sketch. I'm another one who doesn't do many 2 page layouts anymore. I find that I don't have enough photos of most things to support 2 pages. What I do love about 2 page layouts is that there is more opportunity to share the story of the photos. On my layout, I used 5 photos instead of 7 photos, but even without journaling, you can clearly see what was going on in this trip to the zoo.

Hello Zoo Fun Day Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design using the September Scrapbook Sketch By now, you know that I like the little details that make up a page. The linear look of the sketch left me lots of space to add my own touches. Simple punched border strips added a bit of flair around the basic squares and bordered the set of photos without taking away from them.

Hello Zoo Fun Day Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design using the September Scrapbook Sketch I also added some long stitches along the edges. To make sure that my larger pictures really popped, I raised them up with some cardboard glued to the back.

Hello Zoo Fun Day Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design using the September Scrapbook Sketch In the sketch photo, there were both larger and smaller flowers. For my layout, I felt that the larger flowers that I tried were taking away from my photos and throwing off the balance of my layout. I chose to use all small flowers to accent my layout and leave the focus where it should be, on the photos.

Hello Zoo Fun Day Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design using the September Scrapbook Sketch For the title work, I mixed both alphabet letters and a sticker. I love to mix up different elements and the 3 Birds Stickers give so many options! The other thing that I wanted to try to show with this close-up is the way I altered the height of the photos. As I said before, I raised the larger photos with cardboard. As my layout came together, I realized that I had all the height on the page at each end. Raising one of the smaller one's brought back the balance.

Hello Zoo Fun Day Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design using the September Scrapbook Sketch Thanks so much for taking a peek at my take on this month's sketch! Hope that you will share any pages your make with the sketch with us!
