Fall Gift Bag

Happy Thanksgiving a day early to all the US people out there! And Canada, here is wishing you early for next year!

It’s Katrina here today to share a fun little altered gift bag that would work to bring some goodies to a fall party, or to just use for a hostess gift. You could whip this bag up today and take it tomorrow to all your festivities!

I love brown bags from the craft store that you can decorate for any season. I try to keep some on hand at all times. The Midday Medley collection works great for this fall themed bag that I did.

I just covered the front with the fun plaid paper, then I added a few die cut leaves. I really wanted the leaves to stand out, so I inked the edges. I am usually not an inker, but the gold on the black leaf was calling to me!

Once I used the gold ink on the edge of the leaf, I knew I had to use some of the goodies in the Touch of Glimmer kit! I used an arrow card just as an added layer and then the little green and gold medallion worked perfect with a die cut leaf to accent the corner.

And I decided to ink all the leaves and also pop them with foam adhesive. This gives the bag a little more dimension and pop of something fun. I am not a “one color” inking type of person, so I mixed it up with the gold, yellow and orange!

Christmas Banner

The holiday season is here 3Birds friends, and today I have a fun little banner to share with you that would look great hanging from a mantle or even draped across a window!

This was so quick and easy to make using cards from the For All Seasons Themed Cards. I choose six color coordinating pieces from the Winter set, and then to give them a bit of sparkle, backed them all with gold glitter paper from the 8x8 Glitter Paper Pad. For the “Happy Holidays” piece, I also added my version of a Christmas poinsettia by using both gold and red pieces from the Holiday Season Edition of the Quilled Cardmaking Kit, by first spinning the gold layer, then adding the red layer.



For the next pieces of my banner, I used the cute winter accessories card along with gems from the Pearlescent & Foil Goodie Box to mark the boxes, and as berries on the holly card.



I also used a few stickers from the Sticker Flair Kit with a bit of foam adhesive to give them a bit of dimension.



To tie it all together I used gold and white sparkly Baker's twine, but ribbon would also work great too!

Give Thanks Embroidery Hoop Fall Home Decor

I cannot believe fall is here and it’s almost Thanksgiving here in the US. November is half over and Christmas will be here before we know it! But I am keeping with Thanksgiving here on the blog.

This project is super easy to create and would look great greeting your visitors or as a centerpiece for a table.

This is just a wooden embroidery hoop that I altered to use as a decoration. I have a few of these around, because I used to cross-stitch. But, you can find these in your local craft store or for cheap at flea markets!

I used the Midday Medley paper collection, Nestable Sticker pad, For All Seasons cards, and the Pearlescent and Foil Goodie box to create with. I pulled out the “Give Thanks” card and then added some layers behind it, popping them up with some foam adhesive.

I added the die cut leaf wreath under the card cluster as an accent. Then I decided it needed a little glam and then added a few of the Pearlescent goodies to it near the cards.

The sticker was easy to add to the edge, you just have to plan! And have some baby powder on hand. Just pull the sticker out of the pad carefully and then sprinkle baby powder all over the sticky back. This will take away the stickiness, but you will still be able to attach the sticker with adhesive dots or liquid glue on the parts that are touching the hoop. I did have to trim my sticker slightly to make it fit, but I covered that part up with a bow!

I Believe in Santa Claus | Scrapbook Page

 

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made. I'm ready for the holiday season to begin and with all the great choices of new products from 3 Birds, I couldn't resist making a Christmas page!



The title sticker was a natural fit because of the photo, too. I chose it because it echoes the print on Mom's shirt.



DESIGNER TIP | I added foam to the back of the sticker to make it easier to layer and to match up with the dimension of the other embellishments.



More layering was added with the flat stickers that were used for design and the terrific poinsettias that are included in the quilling kit. Here, I used pink centers to continue the non-traditional color choices.



 

The final touches include a big bow and more bits and pieces from the Quilled Card Kit Holiday season Edition.

Mix & Match Everyday

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made using a mix of 3 Birds products. This layout is all about texture and finishes. I really like to mix texture for pages. In addition to different textures being great for things you can touch, texture can also bring visual dimension and interest.

The layout features many different 3 Birds products. I included chipboard, dimensional stickers, flat stickers and pearlescent pieces. Each of them has a different finish and detailing.

In this close-up you can see many different visual textures in one small space. There is glitter, flat chipboard, smooth pearlescent pieces and the sheen of foil accents, in addition to a canvas and burlap flower from my stash.

This close-up shows many of the same textures and ribbon is added. For more detail and to mix the dimension, I added foam dots to the back of the flower and chipboard circle.

More layers that include all the parts and pieces come together on the bottom corner of the photo. I purposely used the larger pieces in this section to add weight to the bottom of the page.

DESIGNER TIP | Chipboard layers perfectly over the dimensional stickers. It is strong enough to hold its' shape to stand the test of time in your books.

17turtles + 3 Birds Creative Team Up | InstaFun

All this week the 3 Birds team has been showcasing the fabulous digital cut files from 17turtles, and today is my day to share! There are so many cute designs in the 17turtles store, I had a hard time choosing, but I finally decided on “Everyday Polaroids 1”. I especially love that it not only has the polaroids, but five different titles too!

To start my layout, I cut the Polaroid frame strip, then cut pieces to fill each frame and added them along with my photo to the back of the frames. Next, I backed the frame strip with a coordinating color cardstock.

Once I had my Polaroid frames cut, then it was time for my title. The “insta fun” was perfect to use with my photos, and looks so pretty cut out of the gold glitter paper from the 8x8 Glitter Paper Pad. I just love the glitter paper, and it cuts so smoothly with my die cutting machine!

Next came the darling embellishments that are all from the Flora Festival Premier Page Kit. If you haven’t seen the page kit yet, be sure to check it out! It comes with beautiful papers, chipboard pieces, 3d stickers, borders, and more!



I also added some sequins and the super sweet little bow from the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment Kit; it gives just the perfect amount of dimension to my layout!

Happy Monday Everyone! Chasity here to share a layout I completed over the weekend using a cut file from the AMAZING 17 Turtles! Super excited about these files and how easy they are to use! I used the 17turtles Spider Web digital cut file as I am totally in the Halloween spirit! Eeeek! It's almost here! 



For this layout I did something a little different. Instead of using the positive piece of the die cut web, I used the negative, or "fall out" pieces, to create a fun mask and spray my background paper. The background paper is from the Midday Medley Paper Pack. I started by cutting the 17 Turtles Web cut file on my Silhouette Cameo. I layered the negative pieces on top of my background paper using the actual positive pieces as a guide for placement. Then, I used Heidi Swapp's Color Mist, Black iridescent, to spray my mask. Here is what it looked like as I was spraying it, and removing the negative pieces. As you can see I sprayed 2 12" x 12" pieces, I am not sure what I want to do with the other side just yet!



Once I had my background paper sprayed and dried, I focused on how I was going to layer the other elements on the page. I cut the smaller spider web file out of the Black Glitter Paper, also in the Midday Medley Paper Pack. It really does cut so smoothly in machines! I cut that die cut in half and placed it under some of my page elements on my layout.



Next I cut a title out of the Silver Glitter Paper, using my own handwriting, and the Silhouette.



I encourage anyone who hasn't tried to cut our paper in an electronic die cut machine, DO IT! You won't be disappointed! I finished off my layout by arranging all the elements and the title on the page and gluing them down. I also added some buttons and twine as the finishing touches.

I really enjoyed using the 17 Turtles cut files! There's so many uses for them...I'm actually off to the store right now to buy some Vinyl! I want to cut some spooky webs to dress up the corners of my mirrors for our "Haunted House"! Maybe I'll post pictures later to show you how they turned out! Hope you enjoyed stopping by today!

Halloween Treat Set

Halloween is just around the corner and we are giving you some fun ideas here on the 3 Birds Studio blog. I am sharing some fun and quick treat bags, along with a card for those special goblins that come to trick or treat.

I used the Graceful Season and Midday Medley Paper Collections. These have all the right colors for Halloween goodness! This witches hat treat bag was create from the Graceful Season foil pad and the 12 x 12 paper pad. I love the green foil paper!

These treat bags are very easy to create with or without a die cutting machine, so don’t feel like you need to have a die cutting machine to make treat bags. Find a pattern online, trace it or simply just add lot of embellishments to make your toppers. Then attach your “centerpiece” to a piece of pattern paper that is the width of your bag and folded over. To attach your assembled piece onto your sandwich bags, just use a stapler!



And then I made a fun card to go along with the treat bags. The bats were just adorable and I thought the Midday Medley Glitter Paper would be perfect for them.

The card just slips out and is basically a tag. I haven’t come up with the perfect spooky saying yet, so I have left it blank for now! And an added touch with the Pearlescent and Foil Goodies!



You can make these for all sorts of celebrations and occasions. These would be adorable with pumpkins, cornstalks, and cornucopias for Thanksgiving! Thanks for stopping by today. BOO!

Crafting With Found Items | Fall Home Decor

Last week while I was cooking dinner, I noticed that the jar the pasta sauce came in was such a nice shape and thought maybe, just maybe I could make something fun out of it. That got the ideas going, and before I knew it, I had two home décor projects ready for Fall.

So how about a pasta sauce tealight holder!



Once I had the jar rinsed and dried, I added orange paint to the inside. I rolled it from side to side, making sure all areas of the glass were covered, and then let it sit overnight to dry. To decorate the outside, I cut the “Fall” themed card into an oval, and fussy cut the floral swag, both from the Autumn For All Seasons Themed Card set, then added a few gems from the Pearlescent and Foil Goodie Box Set.

After decorating the jar, I added a ribbon to the top and a tealight to the inside! It looks just as pretty during the day as it does at night!

For my next “found item” project, can you believe I used a tuna can?

After cleaning and drying the can, I gave it a coat of orange paint and let it sit long enough for the paint to dry. Next I cut a circle with a 3” punch and added the cute face cut from cardstock. The stem is a scrap of paper, and the leaves and vines were made from green quilling strips in the new Holiday Season Quilled Card Making Kit.

I didn’t worry about the back or inside of the can since I was going to sit it on a shelf, but you could also cover the back of the can with a scrap of paper too.

Halloween Boo Banner

Halloween is just around the corner and it's one of my favorite holidays. Hi 3 Birds Fans, it's Juliana with you here! I love to decorate my home with hand made decorations. This year, I decided to make a fun and only slightly spooky Halloween banner using my electronic cutting machine and some of my favorite 3 Birds Design products.



 

To create the banner shape, I used a digital cut file, but you can easily create your own banner shape by drawing it onto a piece of scrap paper and using it as a template. Each piece of this banner is 5" wide by 6" tall. You can then use a 1/4" hole punch to create a hole in each corner.


The Midday Medley and Graceful Season Paper Collections each had some papers that were perfect for Halloween. I also loved using some of the Foil and Glitter papers as well. These paper cut so smoothly.



All of the images were also cut using my electronic cutting machine and some digital cut files. I layered some of the die cut images and gave them some dimension by adhering them with double sided foam tape. The black border strips were created using a border punch. The final touch was to add a few of black pearls from the Pearlescent and Foil Goodie Box.

Pumpkin Pie Anyone?

Happy Fall 3 Birds Fans! With fall comes something that I love very much - Pumpkin! I love the color, the shape and the taste of anything made with pumpkin. Especially pumpkin pie. With fall in the air, I was inspired to scrapbook these photos of the pies (including pumpkin) that my Mom's make each year for our Thanksgiving dinner. Our family tradition is for everyone to have a slice of both the pumpkin and the pecan pie.





I used quite a few stickers from the Nestable Sticker Pad to "frame" my photos. I then dressed it up with some gold sequins from our new Touch Of Glimmer Kit which will be debuting on HSN on October 7.

I did my journaling on one of the cards from the For All Seasons Themed Card Kit and then added a couple of stickers from the Sticker Flair Kit.
