I Believe in Santa Claus | Scrapbook Page

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made. I'm ready for the holiday season to begin and with all the great choices of new products from 3 Birds, I couldn't resist making a Christmas page!

I Believe Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design

The title sticker was a natural fit because of the photo, too. I chose it because it echoes the print on Mom's shirt.

I Believe Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design

DESIGNER TIP | I added foam to the back of the sticker to make it easier to layer and to match up with the dimension of the other embellishments.

I Believe Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design

More layering was added with the flat stickers that were used for design and the terrific poinsettias that are included in the quilling kit. Here, I used pink centers to continue the non-traditional color choices.

The final touches include a big bow and more bits and pieces from the Quilled Card Kit Holiday season Edition.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Silver & Gold

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made that focuses on the Flora Festival Premier Page Kit and the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment Kit.

Remember Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThis layout starts with a fabulous sheet of paper from the Premier Page Kit. I love the look of this paper for the outdoor photo that I used. Combining this paper with a peach sticker and doilies, gave me just the base I was looking for.

Remember Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignI layered some beautiful elements from the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment Kit. These coordinate perfectly with the Page Kit. Notice the glittery and foil accents that are on these pieces! So beautiful!

Remember Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThis close-up shows more embellishments that are included in the kits. I love the dimensional sticker pieces. They make layering so easy!

DESIGNER TIP | Don't be afraid to mix gold and silver. They work so well together!

Remember Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThe Pearlescent and Foil Goodie Box jewels go great with the foil accents that are included in this kit! 3 Birds does it again with making their releases go so seamlessly together!

Mix & Match Everyday

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made using a mix of 3 Birds products. This layout is all about texture and finishes. I really like to mix texture for pages. In addition to different textures being great for things you can touch, texture can also bring visual dimension and interest.

Everyday Scrapbook page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThe layout features many different 3 Birds products. I included chipboard, dimensional stickers, flat stickers and pearlescent pieces. Each of them has a different finish and detailing.

Everyday Scrapbook page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignIn this close-up you can see many different visual textures in one small space. There is glitter, flat chipboard, smooth pearlescent pieces and the sheen of foil accents, in addition to a canvas and burlap flower from my stash.

Everyday Scrapbook page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThis close-up shows many of the same textures and ribbon is added. For more detail and to mix the dimension, I added foam dots to the back of the flower and chipboard circle.

Everyday Scrapbook page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignMore layers that include all the parts and pieces come together on the bottom corner of the photo. I purposely used the larger pieces in this section to add weight to the bottom of the page.

DESIGNER TIP | Chipboard layers perfectly over the dimensional stickers. It is strong enough to hold its' shape to stand the test of time in your books.

Halloween Cards & Circle Punches

October is finally here! Celebrate by sending these cute and not-so-spooky cards to a friend. They’re both easy to make, using circle punches and cards from the For All Seasons Themed Card Set.

First up, a layered pumpkin card.

Halloween Cards by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds DesignI made the base of the card using the “Hello There” card, matted it with coordinating paper, and then added it to my blank card. To make the pumpkin, I punched three 2” circles from the orange paper and glued two of them together with the patterned sides facing out. After the circle had dried, I folded them in half, and added a piece of orange twine down the fold.

Halloween Cards by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds DesignTo finish off the pumpkin, I added a small piece of green twine, a stem and leaves to the remaining circle, then glued on the folded circles.

Halloween Cards by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds Design

Now, how about a green eyed spider!

Halloween Cards by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds DesignI made the base of the card with the OCT themed card, matted it with coordinating paper, and added it to my blank card. To make the spider, I punched a 2” circle and a 1” circle from the black paper. I added a foam square to the smallest circle to give it a little dimension, then glued the whole spider to the OCT card.

Green gems from the Pearlescent and Foil Goodie Box Set are the perfect eyes for this guy, and the legs were hand stitched with black twine.

DESIGNER TIP | Short on twine or thread for the pumpkin vine and spider legs? Draw them on with a colored marker.

A circle punch can be used for some many things. I hope these card ideas inspire you to pull out your circle punches and play!

Happy Scrapbook Page

Hi everyone! Robbie today to share a page that I made with the Midday Medley Collection. This page was done using a sweet family photo. It doesn't have journaling or say a lot, but the picture told the story in a small way on its own.

Happy Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignSometimes, I just want to create without worrying about the perfect title or journaling. Admittedly, I'm not a big on journaling in the first place and on this one I simply added one of the 3D Embellishment for a title.

Happy Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThe creative process included some fussy cutting and stitching. I wanted to add a couple of butterflies to the page, but would you believe that I don't have have a butterfly punch? I DO have a flower punch though, so I just cut off one of the petals and I had tiny butterflies! This might not have worked but the stitching completed the idea.

Happy Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignI also added some punched flowers to the centers of the fussy cut flowers. I wanted to add some dimension an interest to the centers. They were finished off with the pearlescent pieces.

Happy Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignDESIGNER TIP | To give your flat flowers some dimension, a really easy way to do it is to cut a small slit in between each of the petals. If you want them to be hard and hold up well in your scrapbook, use a glue stick and start by gluing two together before you shape them. Shape them before they are dry and when they are totally dry, they will be hard.

DESIGNER TIP | One more tip on glue sticks. Not all glue sticks are created equal. For a glue stick that hardens and holds every time, my favorite is the RoseArt glue sticks. The best part about that is they are also the least expensive ones that I've found.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Welcome Fall Wall Art Frame

Can you feel it? Fall is in the air, and I must admit I’m a little more than ready for this change of seasons!

Although, living here in Southern California we don’t actually “see” a whole lot of difference between summer and fall, so the change of seasons takes place in our home décor. It’s Mary Ann here today with a fun piece of home décor that will welcome friends and family as the leaves start to fall.

Welcome Fall Wall Art Frame by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds DesignTo start, I cut a leaf shape using my Silhouette Cameo. This could also be done by looking for a leaf shape online, printing the image outline, then cutting the leaf out with scissors. Next, I tore small pieces of five different fall colored papers from the Midday Medley 12x12 Paper and Vellum Pad and glued them randomly to the leaf shape. After the whole leaf was covered with the various papers, I turned the leaf over, and cut off any overlapping patterned papers.

Welcome Fall Wall Art Frame by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds DesignI glued the leaf to a piece of cardstock, then machine stitched around the outer edge.

Welcome Fall Wall Art Frame by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds Design

DESIGNER TIP | Don’t like to sew? Use a marker to draw around the leaf instead of sewing to achieve a similar look

To finish it off, I added the scalloped shaped sticker that I backed with a scrap of cardstock, and the letter stickers from the Sticker Flair Kit along with the die-cut word welcome.

Welcome Fall Wall Art Frame by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds DesignThis was so much fun to make, and would be a great project to get the kids involved with by having them help with the paper tearing. So how about you, are you ready for fall?

Quick & Easy Cards & Tags Using Scraps

Hi everyone! It's Robbie today to share some cards and a tag inspired by... ME! Seriously, why not stretch an idea even further? Recently, I made a two page layout (Zoo Fun Day) for the 3 Birds Design Studio blog and I was really happy with the color combination that I ended up using. While it was all sitting on the table, I realized that I had a lot of scraps and all the supplies at my fingertips which led me to make a couple of quick cards and tag to have on hand.

Quick and Easy Cards and Tags by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignIf you were to look back at my layout, you will notice that in addition to the paper and color choices, I also repeated a lot of the same techniques and elements that I used on the layouts. It really made these come together quickly.

Quick and Easy Cards and Tags by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignThe colors that I used in the layout happened to really compliment kraft paper, too. I used a little pre-made kraft tag and added a kraft bag to the photo to show the whole set.

Quick and Easy Cards and Tags by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignUsing the same doilies and stitching ideas that were on the layout worked nicely for the cards, too.

DESIGNER TIP | When stitching the doilies for cards, be sure to stitch them ahead of time and adhere them after. This will cut down on trying o cover the backside of your stitching on the inside of the card.

Quick and Easy Cards and Tags by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds DesignMore details that were copied from the original layout and used on the cards include the punched borders, the ribbons and even the same pearl goodies.

Remember next time you make a project you like to think about getting some cards or tags made to have on hand! It's always great, especially with the busy holiday season around the corner, to have these handy when you need them!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Super Cool Dude

Hey 3Birds Fans! Chasity here today to share a sample layout I made for the September HSN show featuring the Midday Medley Collection. I am super excited to share this Super Cool Dude with you for 2 reasons; 1: With having 2 girls, I NEVER get to make boy pages, and I loved having the opportunity to with this super cute guy! 2: To show how versatile the Midday Medley Collection is for both feminine and masculine layouts and projects! I often am drawn to feminine papers and products, the florals and soft pinks... ahhhhhhh, my happy! So venturing outside of my comfort zone was a little scary, but I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was with our collections! This is one of the few masculine layouts I've created, and I think it's definitely something I want to do more of!

Super Cool Dude By Chasity Sivanick for #3birdsdesign #middaymedley #scrapbookpage

For this layout, I used many of the products from the Midday Medley Collection, and was thankful to have products within the collection that match perfectly! I like to grab all the products I am confident will work well together, then lay them around my workspace when I am creating a layout, that way I can grab from any of the products based on what I am trying to create. I like to keep all my options at my fingertips! (This is part of the reason my desk is perpetually a mess!)

My background papers are from the Midday Medley Paper Pack. I used the "Cherish" border sticker, and Alpha Letters from the Sicker Flair Mega Sticker Kit, to make my title along with sprinkling a few star stickers. "Life is an Adventure", and the "Celebrate" cards are from the "For All Seasons" Title Card Kit, which is one of my favorite kits we've done! The foil printing in these books of endless cards is simply beautiful! If you haven't picked these books up... I highly recommend them! You will be amazed how many cards you get, and how elegant and sophisticated the foil printing is! I trimmed out the "Life is an Adventure" hexagon from the card to add some interest, hey... you don't always have to stay square! The "All Boy" and Banner stickers are again from the Sticker Flair Kit. The "#SWAG" and Arrow stamp with die cut are from the Timeless Stamp Kit. Lastly, I added a few 3D Stickers from the Midday Medley 3D Embellishment Kit. I like to cluster embellishments into "groupings", and the more products I can you the better! I love variety. Oh, and I almost forgot! I also sprinkled a few "Goodie Box" embellishments to add a little more dimension.

Designer Tip | Try adding adhesive foam squares to some pieces when building a cluster of elements on a layout to change the height for added interest.

Thank you for taking time out of your day today to stop by and see what we are up to, I hope it inspires you to venture outside of your creative comfort zone and try something new!

Gift Set | Magnets & Trivets

Hi everyone! It's Robbie again today. Last week, on the 3 Birds Blog, I shared a card that I made using the new Pearlescent and Foil Goodie Box. On my blog, I shared a matching gift bag and tag. Today, I'm back to share the little gifties that I put together to go in the bag!

Gift Set with Coordinating Magnets and Trivets by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design Pearlescent Foil Goodie Box Graceful SeasonI love to give little kitchen gifts because everyone can use them. With the versatility of the 3 Birds collections, you are sure to be able to find a color combination that will work with any kitchen, too. For this gift, I made a couple of trivets and matching magnet set. I also added a whisk and a wooden spoon for a little extra.

DESIGNER TIP | It would be really cute to add some cup towels or wash rags. The ideas for the kitchen are endless!

Gift Set with Coordinating Magnets and Trivets by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design Graceful SeasonThe trivets are 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 tiles that I picked up at Home Depot to alter. These are perfect because you can use the 6 x 6 pads with it. These are SO SIMPLE!

Directions: Use Mod Podge to adhere your paper to the tile. After it's dried, add another coat of Mod Podge to the top. After that is completely dry, seal with a spray sealer and add cork pieces to the bottom corners.

Gift Set with Coordinating Magnets and Trivets by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design Graceful SeasonThe last thing I made was a set of 4 magnets to match. They work great as a little tie-on for gifts and are really practical, too.

Gift Set with Coordinating Magnets and Trivets by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design Graceful SeasonDirections: Glue flat-back glass pieces to small scraps of paper with Glossy Accents. If you don't have Glossy Accents, any strong glue that dries clear will work. After it is completely dry, trim around the glass piece as closely as possible. Glue a magnet to the back, also using a strong clear drying glue. I used Glossy Accents for this, as well.

Now, pop the magnets in a little organza bag, tie a great bow to attach the magnets to and put the whole thing in your matching bag. Quick and Easy gift! When you sit down to make them, think about making a couple of sets. Then you'll have another gift for when you are in a pinch!

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my project!

Pearlescent & Foil Goodie Box Inspiration - Scrapbook Page

We have something new and exciting coming soon to 3 Birds Studio and I already know you are going to love it! It’s called the “Pearlescent & Foil Goodie Box”, and the best part, it has over 1400 pieces!!

Pearlescent & Foil Goodie Box by 3 Birds Design

That’s right, over 1400 pieces of color and shine to add to your paper crafting projects! All this week the design team will be sharing projects using the Pearlescent & Foil Goodie Box, so be sure you stop by for inspiration and ideas.

And now on to my project! I love old black and white photos, and this picture of my dad when he was about 7 years old is no exception. I wanted to add some color and shine to my layout, but still wanted the focus to be on the photo.

You and Me Scrapbook Page by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds Design featuring Pearlescent and Foil Goodie BoxAfter layering pieces from the Midday Medley Paper Pad and the Nestable Festival Sticker Pad, I did a bit of machine stitching in a messy circle, right on top of the copper chevron stickers. Next I added my photo, and then various colors of the Pearlescent & Foil gems.

You and Me Scrapbook Page by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds Design featuring Pearlescent and Foil Goodie BoxDESIGNER TIP | I used both a liquid adhesive, and glue dots to add the Pearlescent & Foil gems to my layout to see which worked best. I liked them both, so give different adhesives a try to see what works best for you.

You and Me Scrapbook Page by Mary Ann Jenkins for 3 Birds Design featuring Pearlescent and Foil Goodie BoxI finished off the layout by adding the You and Me sticker and my journaling that was done on a computer and cut into small strips

Altered Chalk Board

Hi everyone! Robbie here today sharing an Altered Chalkboard that I came up with. I am loving the chalkboard craze lately and I couldn't resist this little chalkboard that was done as an easel. I've seen these in several places, but this one I picked up at World Market.

Altered Chalk Board by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design

The first step before you start to decorate your chalkboard is the scallops that are painted on the chalkboard. I used a Sharpie paint pen to paint these. Super quick and easy.

DESIGNER TIP | Don't worry about perfection! Just go for it! You will see that mine aren't perfect. For a chalkboard, I actually liked the look. Odds are that the writing on a chalkboard won't be perfect either! It's more about the overall effect.

Altered Chalk Board by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design

To cover the base, I cut strips of the black polka dot paper to the width of each of the sides. I cut the pink striped paper 1/2 inch wider than the width of the black and punched all the edges using my Fiskars scalloped border punch.

Glue the pink first and then layer the black over the top.

Use the left-over black pieces to cover the legs of the easel.

Be sure to cut the chalkboard tray pieces, too.

Altered Chalk Board by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design

Next up is the fun part! Decorating!! Of course, being a flower lover, I went with quilled roses for the main element of my embellishing. I added a little banner from the layered sticker sheet, a few punched flowers and I was ready to finish this little chalkboard.

Altered Chalk Board by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design

Because I will actually use this, I wanted to make sure that I had chalk actually included with it. I'm not a fan of the way chalk feels in my hand, so I added a bit of paper around it. I also liked the way this looks and adds a bit more decoration to the project.

DESIGNER TIP | Use really strong glue to adhere the paper around the chalk. Glue to the chalk first. Let dry. Roll and glue it closed.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my project!

Decorating A Mini Album Using Xyron Adhesives & A Giveaway

Welcome to our final day of 3 Birds projects created using the amazing adhesives from Xyron! So far this week, we have had some amazing projects including an altered wood letter and an altered burlap canvas. Today, we finish off the week with an adorable mini album by Robbie Herring.

Hi y'all! It's Robbie today. I wanted to share a mini album that I created with the Xyron Creative Station and 3 Birds products. The Xyron Creative Station is perfect for larger items that you want to turn into stickers. A mini album goes together perfectly and easily when using the Xyron Creative Station!

Here is the album that I made.

My Favorite Moments Mini Album by Robbie Herring 3 Birds DesignTo get started, I cut all the pieces to make my mini album out. I decided to make this a fairly small album that you be great for a gift. I used my Spellbinders dies to cut 4 pieces of chipboard and 8 pieces of paper to cover the chipboard.

Next, I fed the chipboard and 4 of the patterned paper pieces through the Xyron Creative Station.

Covering A Mini Album using Xyron Creative Station by Robbie Herring 3 Birds Design

DESIGNER TIP | To make your adhesive go as far as possible, use the tray to place them close to the previous pieces. Don't cut them until you have fed all the pieces through the machine.

Now you are ready to adhere your paper to build your album! One side of the chipboard will have adhesive, so use one of the pieces that you didn't feed through to cover that side. You will then use a piece of the adhesive covered paper for the other side of the chipboard.

Covering A Mini Album using Xyron Creative Station by Robbie Herring 3 Birds DesignI also used the Spellbinder's dies to cut an additional piece of paper for the top of each page of my album. These pieces were added using my Xyron Mega Runner. I wanted to have the option to curl or distress the edges, so I didn't want these pieces covered completely with adhesive. The Mega Runner was perfect! It does a great job of holding things firmly!

Covering A Mini Album using Xyron Creative Station by Robbie Herring 3 Birds Design

The next steps were a few details and then putting it together.

I love the look of stitching to add detail, but it can be a bit tough on a mini album to make it look right on both sides. To get a similar look quickly and easily, I just used my Souffle pens and did a quick outline around each page.

Covering A Mini Album using Xyron Creative Station by Robbie Herring 3 Birds Design

To put it all together, I added eyelets to each page and used a ring to hold it all together.  And of course, I added a bow!

Time to start embellishing! I used a few things from both Graceful Season and Midday Medley for my album. Paper, chipboard, punched leaves and flowers were the choices I made. The collections have so many embellishment choices and complement each other so well. It really makes embellishing easy.

My Favorite Moments Mini Album by Robbie Herring 3 Birds Design

I loved how easy this went together using the Creative Station! Don't forget that Xyron makes so many other great products!

Creating a Scrapbook Page in 30 Minutes or Less

Hi everyone. It's Robbie today. I am sharing a layout that I made with the Midday Medley Collection. I have been traveling lately and I'm behind on everything, so I thought today's layout would be the perfect time to share how easily and quickly 3 Birds products make a layout come together.

This layout was done in less than 30 minutes! Actually probably closer to 20 if you really want to know the truth! It is important that you should know that I usually take FOREVER to commit to a final design. Not today!
Zoo Day Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design #3birdsdesign #scrapbookpage #middaymedleyAs you can see, I used a lot of stickers for this basic design. With all the different kinds of stickers available in the Midday Medley Nestable Festival Sticker Kit and Sticker Flair Set, the design was easy.

Zoo Day Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design #3birdsdesign #scrapbookpage #middaymedleyHowever, I'm all about the little details. So, when I was editing the photo, I realized that I still wanted a bit more. I pulled out another sticker, added a few quilling circles and took a new photo. This was more like it, however I still wasn't quite happy with it.

Zoo Day Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design #3birdsdesign #scrapbookpage #middaymedleyIt may seem small, but I added a few punched flowers behind 3 of the quilling circles. Yes, a tiny detail, but it pulled the yellow that I loved into a few smaller places which made me happier with the balance. At this point, I also decided to add a title. Done! Still fast at under 40 minutes!

Zoo Day Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design #3birdsdesign #scrapbookpage #middaymedleyIn this photo, you can see where I added the tiny punched flowers. Because my photo was raised, I added a couple of foam dots to the back of the heart sticker to make it layer better.

Zoo Day Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design #3birdsdesign #scrapbookpage #middaymedleyThe sticker that was originally used as a design element seemed like to a good place to add a title. The small alphabets in the Sticker Flair Kit fit perfectly. A few more details and it's finished!

Zoo Day Scrapbook Page by Robbie Herring for 3 Birds Design #3birdsdesign #scrapbookpage #middaymedleyDESIGNER TIP | Tips for speed

  • Don't use a lot of paper. Because 3 Birds does such a beautiful job with their stickers and embellishments, you can get away with this.

  • Stickers! They are already done for you. Shapes, words, layers, borders... 3 Birds does it all!

  • Stick with what you know. I almost always add ribbon and flowers, so I pulled them out at the beginning and didn't spend forever searching for a lot of extras.
