Hello You Box Card and Midday Medley Stamp Kit

It’s Katrina here on the blog today. I was super excited when I saw the new Midday Medley Timeless Stamp Set. First of all, I love the idea of stamping, but hate the idea of messing up and trying to figure out how to cut out a stamped image to use. This kit makes it so easy since the die cuts for the stamp shapes are included! Just stamp on the die cut and you are ready to create!



I have seen these box cards around the internet and wanted to create one. It was easy for me using my Silhouette Cameo and a cut file. Let’s take a closer look at the elements.

I created a little scene for the pop up part of the card. I used the Graceful Season 3D Embellishment kit and Sticky Sparkly Glitter & Foil set along with the Midday Medley Timeless Stamp kit to do this. I knew I wanted an everyday type of card, so I started with the “hello” stamp. I stamped the hello on the pre-made die cut and attached it to part of a banner that I had from the 3D Embellishment set.



Then I added a flower cluster from the Sticky Sparkly Glitter Foil chipboard set as an accent to the “hello”. This is on a lower level, but I did use foam adhesive to pop it up a bit.



Then I decided I wanted to add the word you and the front flap was perfect for that. I just used another cut file and sized it to fit the flap. I cut it from a scrap of the flower paper that I had left from a 12 x 12 sheet and then created a shadow for it from a scrap of 6x6. I created the shadow darker to make the word stand out.



And I am kind of “in love” with the camera stamp. I colored one of the camera die cuts and then just stamped on top of it. The die cuts take color mediums wonderfully!



And here, you can see that the card folds flat for giving. Just grab an envelope and you are good to go!

Choosing Colors When Scrapbooking

Hi everyone. It's Robbie today. I am sharing another layout that I made with the Graceful Season Collection. Today's layout is all about using your photo to direct color choices in your paper and embellishments.



In this case, the main colors of the clothes they are wearing helped me to choose the background paper colors. Moms shirt went perfectly with the blue floral paper and the girls dresses are primarily purple, so I chose the purple paper to frame the photo.



In this photo, you will see that the peach flowers don't actually match the paper choices or embellishments. They do compliment, but because of peach in the girls' dresses, they make a good color choice. They also add a nice contrast.



Because I added the peach flowers, I chose to include a peach ribbon. I also added a lavender gingham ribbon and used bows on each side of the photo to frame it.



I finished the look by adding quilled circles and an extra sentiment from the Card Kit. Since this is a Mother's Day photo, the choices were easy when it came to sentiments and the title.

Quilled Mother's Day Frame

Mother's Day is coming soon and I thought I would share a hand made project that I created for my Mom to let her know just how much I love her. I created it using the Graceful Season Quilled Cardmaking Kit.

I was inspired to create this shadow box piece after seeing this beautiful watercolor art print. I decided to replace the watercolor flowers with quilled flowers using a combination of the die cut and straight quilled pieces that come in the Quilled Cardmaking Kit. The 8x8 shadow box frame was purchased from my local craft store.

Because I wanted to create this as a gift for my Mom, I thought it would be nice to use a Mother themed quote in the center of the flowers. I found this quote by Abraham Lincoln and thought it was perfect:

All I am or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.

 

I created a digital cut file for the quote to use with my Silhouette Cameo and then cut it from a piece of gold foil paper from the Graceful Season 6x6 Foil Paper Pad. You can visit my blog to download this cut file for FREE!



I then set about the task of make all of the quilled flowers. This took some time, but I find making them somewhat relaxing, so I didn't mind it at all.

I adhered the words with clear liquid adhesive before I attached the flowers using them same adhesive.

DESIGNER TIP | To help determine the position of the flowers and words I first laid them out on a piece of patterned paper cut to fit the inside of the frame. I then took a photo of it with my phone and used the photo as a reference for adhering the flowers.

Everyday Moments Scrapbook Page

Hi scrapping friends, It’s Mary Ann here today with an “everyday moment” layout to share. Are you an everyday moment kind of scrapper, or do you just scrap the special occasions like birthdays and holidays? Or maybe a little bit of both?? I definitely do scrap the special days, but there’s something about capturing a candid photo that I love.



This picture of my son and his Grandma is one of those candid photos, neither one of them is even looking at the camera, but it captures that magic moment when the duck started eating out of Grandma’s hand. I wanted the picture to stand out on my layout, so I placed my Graceful Season embellishments right next to, and even a little bit on top of the photo to draw attention to one area.



I layered the “love this” 3D embellishment sticker on top of the bronze foil chipboard, and then added it part way on top of the “you & me” chipboard. I really like the look of the layering!

DESIGNER TIP | Like the idea of adding more layers but not sure of how it will look? The 3D embellishment stickers are perfect to use for this…



The 3D embellishment stickers come on a sheet of clear backing that you can easily cut, then place the sticker with the backing on your project to get a preview of how it looks before having to commit to sticking it down.

Craft Room Storage Ideas - Punches, Ink Pads, Thread and Markers

Hi everyone! Jana Eubank here today to share some of the storage ideas that I use in my craft room. I have drawers behind my desk house that hold my punches, embellishments, twine, journal blocks, etc. These are the items that I reach for most often while adding the finishing touches to the projects I create, so I like keeping them closest to my work space.



I use Iris Snap-Close cases quite a bit for my paper collections and kits, but I also like to use them for other things. I really like that they take advantage of the vertical space on my shelves. Recently, I have discovered that they also work well for ink pads. When the case is open I can flip through them to find the color I need...



And then when the case is closed and on my shelf, the ink pads are stored face down where gravity can do its work and keep the ink settled to the top of the ink pad making them nice and juicy for when I am ready to stamp an image.



I love the Iris 4x6 photo holders, too. They are perfect for separating embroidery thread into different color families.



And for keeping markers and pens on their sides ... which is the best way to store them for optimal ink flow.

National Scrapbook Day - Midday Medley Timeless Stamp Kit Reveal and Scrapbooking Special Events

Thank you for stopping by today for Day 5 of our Week Long National Scrapbook Day Celebration here on the 3 Birds Studio blog! Today, we are announcing our second product from our new Midday Medley collection. I would like to introduce to you our Timeless Stamp Kit! This kit includes over 50 clear stamps, hundreds of die cut shapes, an acrylic stamping block, and both a brown and a black ink pad. The die cut shapes were made to perfectly fit the stamps so that you can stamp your image on the shape and then color it with markers, chalk, watercolor, etc before adding it to your projects.

Hello 3 Birds Fans! It's Juliana here and I hope you have enjoyed our 3 Birds Studio style National Scrapbook Day Celebration! When I first started paper crafting, it was scrapbooking that got me started over 15 years ago. To this day, I still enjoy creating scrapbook pages about those special events that happen throughout the year. Today, I am sharing a scrapbook page that I made to commemorate my great nephew's baptism. This was definitely a special event and I feel blessed to have been a part of this day with my family. As you may recall, I recently shared a baptism layout of my great niece and because they were both baptized on the same day, I wanted to use the Graceful Season collection again to capture the memories of this special event.



DESIGNER TIP | Don't be afraid to cut apart your scrapbook papers. Look at patterns within the paper that can be cut out and used in a different way. For this page, I took the large dark gray and light gray striped paper and cut the stripes apart. I then took the light gray stripes and positioned them on top of the green chevron paper and achieved a totally different look.

To embellish the layout, I layered several pieces from the Graceful Season Sticky Sparkly Glitter & Foil Set. I also used one of the dark gray stripes and cut it to create the banner that is underneath my photos. 

I then dressed it up with some adhesive jewels from my stash and added a small amount of journaling. I felt like the photos captured the story for this page, so I didn't do a lot of journaling. I did however, create a second pocket style page to coordinate with this one and that is where I added my journaling. You can see this layout on my blog - 17turtles.com!
