Creating a Scrapbook Page in 30 Minutes or Less

Hi everyone. It's Robbie today. I am sharing a layout that I made with the Midday Medley Collection. I have been traveling lately and I'm behind on everything, so I thought today's layout would be the perfect time to share how easily and quickly 3 Birds products make a layout come together.

This layout was done in less than 30 minutes! Actually probably closer to 20 if you really want to know the truth! It is important that you should know that I usually take FOREVER to commit to a final design. Not today!
As you can see, I used a lot of stickers for this basic design. With all the different kinds of stickers available in the Midday Medley Nestable Festival Sticker Kit and Sticker Flair Set, the design was easy.

However, I'm all about the little details. So, when I was editing the photo, I realized that I still wanted a bit more. I pulled out another sticker, added a few quilling circles and took a new photo. This was more like it, however I still wasn't quite happy with it.

It may seem small, but I added a few punched flowers behind 3 of the quilling circles. Yes, a tiny detail, but it pulled the yellow that I loved into a few smaller places which made me happier with the balance. At this point, I also decided to add a title. Done! Still fast at under 40 minutes!

In this photo, you can see where I added the tiny punched flowers. Because my photo was raised, I added a couple of foam dots to the back of the heart sticker to make it layer better.

The sticker that was originally used as a design element seemed like to a good place to add a title. The small alphabets in the Sticker Flair Kit fit perfectly. A few more details and it's finished!

DESIGNER TIP | Tips for speed

• Don't use a lot of paper. Because 3 Birds does such a beautiful job with their stickers and embellishments, you can get away with this.


• Stickers! They are already done for you. Shapes, words, layers, borders... 3 Birds does it all!


• Stick with what you know. I almost always add ribbon and flowers, so I pulled them out at the beginning and didn't spend forever searching for a lot of extras.

Quilled Flower Card and Quilling Comb Video

It’s Katrina today and I am going to show you a fun way to quill flowers for your project. I made a card, but these flowers will work on altered art, scrapbook pages, tags, gift boxes, etc.

I love the rolled flowers that you can make with the quilling tool, but I wanted a different look to my flowers. I mean, flowers are all different in nature, right?! I searched around on the Internet and found that people were making flowers with quilling combs or using hair combs as a substitute for a quilling comb. I found a few videos on how to make these, but the videos I found didn’t have a lot of detail about the entire process. So, I made my own video on how I made the flowers for my card.

Here is a close up of where I used the flower that I made in the video. And how cool is that “Quill Ease” Quilling Tool?! Love it!

I actually used the back of one of the pre-made cards from the Graceful Season’s Quilled Cardmaking kit. I wanted a front without an opening. Instead, I put the opening on the inside of the card and used it as an area for my sentiment to go.

I backed the opening with some of the Midday Medley pattern paper and then used one of the stickers from the Sticker Flair kit that will be debuting on HSN next week!

Quilled Altered Wood Letter

Hello 3 Birds Fans! It's Juliana here to share with you a project using my new found love - quilling!  I have fallen head over heels in love with the art of quilling and all of the amazing patterns and designs you can create with it. Not to mention all of the things you can add quilling too! Quilling is often used on cards, and I have created some cards using it. However, I have been wanting to mix it up a little recently and try using it for something different. During a recent trip to Michael's, I was inspired to try using it to alter a wood letter. Today, I'm sharing with you how I altered the letter using a piece of patterned paper and of course some quilling. The finished letter is going to be a birthday present for my niece who loves all things pink and flowers!

I began with this wooden letter "A".  As I mentioned above, I found this at my local Michael's craft store. Any wood or paper mache letter will do though!

I then pulled out the 3 Birds Design new Quill Ease Tool and created a bunch of quilled flowers. This new tool will be available on HSN on July 23 and let me tell you now, this thing is awesome! It is a motorized quilling tool and it works wonderfully to create the simple quilled coils that are the basis of many quilled shapes.



As I created the flowers, I laid them on the wooden letter to determine where I wanted to position them. Once I was finished, I took a quick photo with my camera phone so that I would remember where everything went.

Once, my quilling design was completed, I painted the inside openings of the wood letter with white acrylic paint. Next, I covered the front, sides and top with a piece of patterned paper.



The final step was to adhere my quilled flowers. I used my camera phone photo to help me remember the placement of each flower. One final touch to the flowers was the addition of some small adhesive backed jewel to the center of each flower. I love the sparkle and shine they add to the piece and I can't wait to give it to my niece for her birthday!

Three Cards | Sticker Flair Kit

Hi 3 Birds friends, it’s Mary Ann here today with three new cards to share with you! Yes, three! And the best part, they are all made using stickers from the brand new Sticker Flair Kit that is coming soon to HSN.com. First up, a sweet little everyday card that showcases the awesome new sticker letters!!!

Not only are the letters part of the new Sticker Flair Kit, the cute banner pieces are too. I am in love with the new sticker kit, and I know you will be also. Oh, and guess what? There are over 3,000 stickers in the new Sticker Flair Kit! Yes seriously, over 3,000 stickers! Just think of all the cards, scrapbook layouts, mini albums and even home décor you can make with this kit!!

Next up, a celebrate card that could be used for anything from celebrating a birthday to celebrating the first day at a new job.

The two pieces in the center of the card are both stickers, layered with a small piece of foam tape between them for a bit of dimension. I also added a bit of machine stitching on the layers of patterned paper.

For card number three, I used the “Make Today Awesome” sticker as the greeting for the front of the card, added two rows of butterflies with my sewing machine, and then layered it on matching patterned papers.

To add just a bit more color, I splattered a little yellow paint and then my card was complete!

DESIGNER TIP | Oh, and here’s a card making hint: Want to have perfectly straight folds in your cards, but don’t have a scoring board to make the lines? Try using your paper trimmer! Just lay the paper in your trimmer like you would if you were going to cut the paper, but instead of using the blade, use a scoring tool or bone folder to make the crease. Perfect lines every time!

Soccer Is Life Scrapbook Page

How many soccer fans do we have out there? Have you been watching the World Cup? I didn't grow up with soccer being an option as a sport, but I'm sure happy to see that my niece has had the opportunity to play. Today, I'm sharing a scrapbook page that I created of her playing soccer using the new 3 Birds Design Midday Medley collection.

I selected the black and white frame patterned paper as my background to help accentuate the black and white color of a traditional soccer ball. Next, I selected the green polka dot paper to use as a mat for the series of photos of her playing soccer. I thought it seemed to match the green grass they were playing on.

I used the color of the girls soccer socks to inspire the choice of colors that I selected for the strips behind the photo grouping.

To embellish the layout, I added pink glitter stars punched from the Midday Medley Glitter Paper Pad. This is the best glitter paper that I have ever used. It punches and cuts like butter. Seriously! I also added a piece from the Graceful Season Sticky Sparkly Chipboard Set and enhanced my title using the "Remember" stamp and coordinating die cut from the Midday Medley Timeless Stamp Kit.

July 4th Wreath using Midday Medley & Graceful Seasons Collections

Hi Everyone! Chasity here today to share a quick and easy Home Decor Project with you. With all the fireworks displays, Americana apparel and delicious grilled items to focus on when July 4th rolls around, it’s easy to forget what this holiday is really about: patriotism. It’s, at its heart, a celebration of the 1776 adoption of the Declaration of Independence, and the founding of a country based on equality, freedom, and opportunity.  I created this wreath to hang on my front door to remind me of what this fantastic holiday is really about! I started with a basic grapevine wreath from my local craft store. I chose to use the pattern paper from the Graceful Seasons Collection, and the awesome glitter paper from the Midday Medley Collection. I created some fun embellishments to decorate my wreath that are simple to make. I also used some embellishments from the Graceful Seasons 3D Embellishments Kit, and Chipboard Shapes.

The rosettes start out as paper strips cut 1 1/2" wide by 12" long. Score the strip every 1/2" the length of the strip, then accordion fold the paper on the scored lines. Glue the ends together to create a circle. Next, stand the rosette upright and press the center edge down towards the table to form the rosette shape. Glue the rosette to a circle base on the back, then decorate the front to your desire! The rolled flowers really pop with the glitter paper from the Midday Medley Collection! I just love how easy it is the cut the glitter paper, and that the glitter stays put! Rolled flowers can be hand cut, or cut on a die cutting machine, just remember to roll with the glitter to the inside, since that's the part of the flower you will see.

The last embellishments I created for the wreath were the pinwheels! I just love pinwheels on the 4th of July! These are super simple to make as well. Start with 2 coordinating patterns and cut them into 2 1/2" squares. Glue them together, back to back. Cut from the corners, one at a time, towards the center of the square. Be sure to stop about a 1/2" from the center. This is where you will glue later. Take alternating corners, bend them down into the center of the square, and adhere. I used a glue gun on all of my embellishments to make sure they held in place. Then I added some rhinestones, buttons and twine to dress them up!

I covered a wood piece with the Blue Word Paper from the Graceful Seasons Collection and decorated it with the chipboard from Graceful Seasons Sticky Sparkly Chipboard Set. I glued it to a paper straw then just inserted it into the wreath. I did this so I can use this wreath for Labor Day and Memorial Day simply by creating the same square embellishment, just changing the Holiday, and swapping them out! 3 Holidays, 1 Wreath! I hope you enjoyed my project today!
