Mini Golf Scrapbook Page | September Sketch Challenge

It’s sketch time here on 3 Birds again and this month we have a two page sketch! It's Katrina with you today and here is my take on the September Sketch. I changed things up quite a bit, mainly the pictures and direction they were. This, of course, caused me to change a lot of other things!

On all my layouts, I like to add embellishments to the corners. Here I added a couple of chipboard pieces from the Graceful Season Sticky Sparkly Glitter & Foil set, teamed up with a doily!

And here I teamed up some more chipboard, with some of the stickers from the Sticker Flair kit. To add the twine, I just ran a thin line of glue along the top of my stickers once they were on my page, then laid the twine on top. To create the loops, I just used a Zot from ThermOWeb to hold the loop in place. I tied the bows separately and attached them with a Zot also.

Here, I combined the Sticker Flair kit along with the new For All Seasons Project Cards. I trimmed one down to fit into the area I needed it to and popped stickers on top of it.

And I wanted to add a little journaling, so I used another card from the For All Seasons cards. It had a blank area at the top, so I just added journaling strips to that area. Confession, I was going to journal in white pen straight on the card, but forgot and adhered the card down! So, I improvised with the journaling strips!

And I broke down the sketch into a one page layout. You can see that layout over on my personal blog Paper, Scissors and Glue. You can find that layout HERE.

We cannot wait to see your takes on the sketch!!!

September Scrapbook Sketch

Happy September 3 Birds Fans! Who can believe that September is here already? This year is flying by so fast. Just like last month, we are sharing another scrapbook sketch with you. This month's sketch is a 2 page layout, created by Mary Ann Jenkins, that can hold up to 7 photos. Of course, you can add more or less or even only use it to create a one page layout. It's up to you and what the sketch inspires you to create.

Next week, our design team will be sharing how the sketch has inspired them. Our hope is that the sketch and our designers interpretations of it will inspire you to pull out all of your 3 Birds products and play along with us. All you have to do is post your completed project on our 3 Birds Facebook page by the end of the month. We will then pick one of the projects and feature it and the designer both here on our blog and on our Facebook page in September! Ready, set, CREATE!!!  We can't wait to see what you share with us!

Awesome Summer

I’m sure many of you have heard by now of “Pocket Scrapbooking” a trend that is hitting the scrapbooking world by storm. It can be a simplified version of scrapbooking where making a layout is as easy as adding photos and cards to fill up the pockets of a 12x12 (and other sizes too!) page protector. But what if you haven’t jumped in to give the pocket style scrapbooking a try? What if traditional scrapbooking is more your thing? How about using those cards on a traditional 12x12 layout! It’s Mary Ann here today and I have a layout to share using the “For All Seasons” themed cards that will be arriving soon on The Home Shopping Network. With Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring themed cards, there really is something for all seasons!

For my layout, I used the 4x6 “awesome” card and the 4x3 “summer” card as embellishments with my photo in between. Both cards are from the Summer themed stack, and are just two of the sizes included. There are also 3x2 and 4x4 cards in each stack, perfect for not only layouts and pocket scrapbooking, but cards and crafty projects too!

As you can see, I embellished the awesome card by adding stickers from the Sticker Flair Kit, and added a bit of foam tape under the memory sticker to give it a bit of dimension.

I added scraps of paper along the edges and a trio of chevron stickers to finish it off. Another layout completed to remember our summer!
Mary Ann

August Scrapbook Sketch Feature

During the month of August, we shared our August Scrapbook Sketch with you and then showed how our 3 Bird Design Team was inspired by it. We then asked you, our 3 Birds Fans, to play along with us. By playing along you had the chance of being selected to be featured on our 3 Birds Facebook page and blog. We had two wonderful takes on the August Sketch, so we decided to feature both of them.

We really love how Dale Rose Stream incorporated the diagonal elements from the sketch into her layout to help capture the thrill of the fun ride her family is enjoying.

Dinah Audish Christoph, who shared that she is new to scrapbooking, caught our attention with this beautiful layout of her and her sister

We want to thank both Dale and Dinah for playing along with us! Stay tuned, we will be sharing our September Sketch with you soon.

Fall Favorites | Scrapping with Pocket Cards

Hi 3 Birds Fans! It's Juliana from 17turtles. The weather where I live has been on the hot side lately and it's finally feeling a bit more like summer, but this did not stop me from wanting to scrap some fall photos using the new For All Seasons Themed Cards. (These will be coming to HSN on September 2. Stay tuned tomorrow for more details and a GIVEAWAY!)

When I first looked through the cards, I was immediately drawn to the "fall favorites" card with its gold foil contrasted against the dark brown background and delicate green leaves. I knew I had to figure out a way to use that card!

I choose several photos of one of my favorite fall things - pumpkins. I seriously love anything made from pumpkin and orange is one of my favorite colors, so the "Fall Favorites" card was a perfect match for my layout!

I then added a variety of stickers from the Sticker Flair Kit and Midday Medley 3D Embellishment kit to decorate the page. I used double sided foam tape to "pop up" the small letters that I used to spell "pumpkins" to give them more dimension.

The die cut leaves are cut using a digital cut file that I created. You can visit my blog - 17turtles - for more details about it.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. If you have any questions about how I created this layout, just leave a comment below. I'd be happy to answer them!

HUGS!
Juliana
