Gift Bag Tutorial

It’s Katrina here today on the blog and I am sharing a homemade gift bag, card and envelope set using the Graceful Season collection, mixed with Midday Medley Timeless Stamp Set. I also have a tutorial to share with you for making the gift bag!



To give you an idea of how big the bag is, the measurements are 3.75 wide by about 7 inches tall. The card inside the envelope is 4.5 x 4.5 inches. and then my envelope is 5 x5 inches. I have made a collage of the gift bag directions for you and they are numbered to make it easier to follow.



GIFT BAG TUTORIAL

1. Find a box that will work for your size of paper that you have. You want the paper to go all the way around the box and overlap slightly.


2. Fold your paper around your box, creasing the paper to leave an impression of the edge of the box.


3. Apply a tape adhesive along the length of the overlap side of paper to make a seal. This will be the back of your bag.


4. With your box still inside your wrap, close the end. Tuck both sides in toward the bottom center of the box, creasing well. Like you are wrapping a package.


5. Fold down the edge of the bag that is on the seamed side of your bag. You may need to trim this slightly to make the bottom lay flat. Apply tape adhesive to the bottom edge and fold up toward the seam side, closing in the top edge.


6. Die cut a flower and leaves, ink and then assemble attaching to the front of the bag.


7. Use one of the chipboard banner pieces from the Graceful Season collection and stamp a sentiment from the Midday Medley Timeless Stamp Set on it and then attach underneath the flower. Punch holes in the top of the bag and add matching ribbon.

I cut the envelope out on my die cutting machine making a modification in the file to add in the orange paper. I stamped another sentiment from the Midday Stamp collection, matching my ink to the color of the orange paper.

Princess Scrapbook Page | Michele Kovack

Hi there! Michele Kovack here! I am thrilled to be sharing a layout of my daughter, Cortney today on the 3 Birds Studio blog! I had taken these pictures of my daughter during a pageant she had participated in and knew I had to scrap them. I used the Midday Medley Paper Pad and the Nestable Festival Sticker Pad.  I created a frame using the stickers and then used a heart stencil and embossing paste to add a bit of texture.



I absolutely love the glitter paper packs and created a large rose and leaves with it!



I used the various frames and stamps to create a collage of sorts.  I changed one of the shaker stickers from the Midday Medley 3D Embellishment Kit by adding black enamel paint to the frame.  I wanted to be sure it popped off the page!





I love the flower stamps and colored them with Spectrum Noir markers.  I added a layer of glossy accents and a bit of glitter to the centers.

Friends and Flowers | A Scrapbook Page

Hi everyone. It's Robbie today. I am sharing another layout that I made with the Midday Medley Collection. The layout that I created today shows some of the grown-up side of the collection. I chose to create the layout on a black background and use more vibrant colors to compliment my photo of my daughter and her friends.



I added the vibrant colors in strips. Instead of using the strip from end to end, I chose to cut them and leave a bit of space as a design detail. For me, no matter how simple a design is, the small details are what makes it still special.

After I had my base, I started adding embellishing. Of course, a bit of ribbon and some flowers generally find their way onto most of my pages.



In the next photo, you will see the circles that I made using a mixture of the stamp on circles that were added to a glittery burst that was punched out of the glitter paper. I also punched some tiny flowers and added a bit of bling to the centers. These are just scattered around my page.

DESIGNER TIP | Just in case you decide to look for this punch, I thought I would let you know that it is the punch that was made for punching to cover buttons.



The last details were added to balance the design. I have to admit that I have a hard time sometimes with not filling up the page! I layered some of the Nestable Festival Stickers, a 3D Embellishment, Flowers, Stamps, Etc. I used this area and a bit of all the embellishments that I had used throughout the page on a more clustered small scale to pull the whole layout together.

Finally, it was title time. Because this was an embellishment heavy layout, I chose to use small stickers for my title. The black frame that they are set on is fussy cut from another of the papers.

Also, the Click Click Click dimensional sticker was a must for this page! Although it was meant to speak of a camera, it was also perfect since all the girls were clicking away with their phones.

Moving Up a Grade

Hi Everyone! Jana Eubank here. With the close of another school year, I automatically get in the mood to work on scrapbook page for my kids’ school albums. Today I have a two-page layout featuring my daughter and her classmates at her 6th Grade Advancement Ceremony from several years back.



I used the blue chevron patterned paper from the Graceful Seasons 12 x 12 Premium Paper Pad for the background of my page. It was the perfect compliment to the other patterned papers and vellum paper I chose from the Midday Medley 12 x 12 Paper & Vellum Pad. I thought the floral paper went especially well with the tropical theme of these photos.



I love that I was able to mix elements from the Graceful Seasons Sticky Sparkly Glitter & Foil Set with the Midday Medley 3D Embellishment stickers. How cute is that little shaker box arrow?!

On the right page, I used more elements from the Graceful Season collection to accent my photos. I also cut out one of the flowers from the floral vellum paper that coordinated with the other floral piece I hand cut from the floral patterned paper.

Introducing Chasity Sivanick from 3 Birds

Hello there friends! I am Chasity Sivanick, from 3 Birds, and I am really excited to be a part of the blog this month! Here at 3Birds Studio I do Product Development. I have been an avid scrapbooker for 17 years, and joined 3 Birds 7 years ago. When I had the rare opportunity to combine my passion with my job, I knew I was both very lucky and blessed. And I just happen to have the best job on the planet! It still gives me goose bumps when a new product comes in to the studio, and I get to see it for the first time. I’m like a kid in a candy store! But we made the candy! I truly hope you guys are enjoying the new products from 3 Birds Studio, and I would like to recognize our amazingly awesome Design Team. I am humbled to be working with the talented greatness of these ladies. They inspire me with their creativity and projects every day! Let’s here it for these ladies!

Today I would like to share with you a card I made for an on air sample on HSN. It features the newest collection from the nest, Midday Medley. I just love how all of the products coordinate seamlessly! This is something we have been working on in the studio.

I began by cutting and scoring my chevron green cardstock from the paper pad to create a 5 ½” x 6” folded card. Then I picked a grouping of Nestable Stickers that fit perfectly on the front of the card. That’s a bonus using the Sticker Nestables, you can use them individually, or group them together for a completely different look!



I used the reverse side of the sticker, sticky side up, and traced the center circle on the front of my card so I would know what size to cut the circle window in the card. After trimming the circle, I adhered the Sticker Nestables to the front of the card. Next I added the glitter paper from the 8” x 8” Glitter Pad and the green circle Nestable sticker to the inside of the card, lining it up with the window. I added 2 of the 3D Embellishment stickers to the card. The “Happy Birthday” banner sticker is on the front of the card, and the speech bubble sticker is in the window. I also added a border to the bottom of the card from a Sticker Nestable and the orange grid cardstock from the paper pad.



 

I wanted to feature the printed vellum, so I came up with the idea for a vellum feather. I choose the hexagon pattern printed vellum and folded it in half so the pattern overlapped perfectly. I glued the wire in between the 2 layers, and then cut the vellum in the shape of the feather around the wire. I cut horizontal lines on both sides of the wire to create the look of a feather. Last step, I added the pink bow and some foam adhesive squares to the back of the feather, then placed it on the card!

Happy Camper

Hi everyone! It’s Mary Ann here today with a fun little card made with the new Midday Medley collection. Although I love the convenience of email, I still love good ‘ol old fashioned mail in my mailbox. Sure a bill or two arrives in there also, but there’s nothing quite like a special card to remind me that someone was thinking of me. So how about sending this cute card to a friend to brighten their day! This would also be perfect in masculine colors for a Father’s Day card.



I used this Camper Shaped Card cut file from the Silhouette online store, but there are also some great images available online under “camper” or “trailer” clip art if you don’t have a die cutting machine available. Simply trace and cut out the shapes. To start my card, I cut the base from cardstock then selected a few of my favorite patterns for the trailer and the banner.



I also used silver foil paper from the 6x6 Foil Paper Pad for the inside of the tire for a bit of shine.

Wedding Exploding Box

Happy June 3 Birds Fans! Juliana here and today, I am sharing my first ever exploding box! I was inspired to create this as a wedding gift while doing a search for ideas on what to create and share with you using the new Midday Medley collection. I happened across the idea of an exploding box and I immediately thought it would be fun to create one with a wedding theme.



I created a pattern based on several different boxes that I saw online. I then went to the Midday Medley 3D Embellishment Kit to select stickers that had a love/wedding theme. I planned to use these to decorate the inside panels of the box. These stickers also guided my paper choices for both the outside and inside of the box. The roses on the paper and stickers most definitely inspired me to create the large paper rose for the top of the box!



When you remove the lid, the box "explodes" to reveal the inside of the box which also includes a gift.



I layered the 3D stickers with punched and cut pieces of patterned paper.









I created a money holder using a large scallop circle punch and smaller circle punch.





To create the large rose on the top of the box, I used my Silhouette Cameo and a digital cutting file. I cut the rose using a piece of cardstock from the Bazzill Basics Olivia Cardstock Kit. I then finished off the box top with a stamped die cut from the Midday Medley Timeless Stamp Kit and an organza bow.
