Pocket Page Fun with 3 Birds Studio

Katrina here with some pocket page inspiration on the Studio blog today. Pocket page creating is very popular right now with people that are documenting daily life. BUT, you can incorporate pocket pages into your albums, without trying to keep up daily. So much good stuff comes in the 3 Birds Studio Graceful Season collection, that you have a lot of options for those pocket pages.

I have a tendency to take a ton of photos when I take my camera anywhere. Since I am usually a one page scrapbooker, a lot of these pictures do not get used. After seeing all the pocket pages that are out there, I decided that I could use those to create additional projects for my albums, without trying to keep up daily.

This page took me about 2 hours start to finish. This included going thru and selecting pictures, editing them and then printing them. I print my pictures at home, which is great, since I can have any size ready. But with a little planning you could send your photos out to be printed and then be ready to go at a moment’s notice.



I wanted my title in this particular corner, for no particular reason! I used the 3D Embellishment set and the Sticky Sparkly Glitter & Foil set to decorate my title card.



And those little cards that are in the 3x3 mini pad are perfect for a journaling spot. I decorated the card with a die cut that I cut out of my Silhouette machine, just for some added decoration.



This big pocket was one of the reasons I chose this particular page protector. The 6x8 area gave me room to focus on a favorite photo during the trip. I created a frame with papers from the 12 x 12 paper pad and then decorated it with that cute floral vine from the 3D Embellishment kit. I love that it isn’t too bulky to fit into the pocket either!

An Extra 5 Minutes To Brighten Someone's Day

We're all busy! Whether it's family, work, school, friends, our pets or hobbies, we all busy and seems like we never have enough time in our day. But what if you took just an extra 5 minutes to brighten up someone else's day?

I had a stack of photos I wanted to send to my mom-in-law. Sure, I could have just stuck them in an envelope and called it good, but what if I took that extra 5 minutes and made a cute card to send the photos in?!



 

And 5 minutes was literally all it took to make this card using pieces from the Graceful Season collections. That included time to address the envelope too!



Just think how happy she will be when she gets this card and photos of the grand kids too!



I also made this gift card holder for a friend. Yes, the yogurt shop gives you a little envelop to put the gift card in, but what about taking that extra 5 minutes to make it something even more special.

Happy Easter Scrapbook Page

Hey y'all! It's Robbie today to share a layout I made with the ever so versatile Graceful Season Collection. I know that I've talked about the versatility before, but it bears repeating. I honestly can't believe the different looks I've been able to do with just this one collection.

Today, I chose to play with the softest elements in the collection.



The soft grey, minty blue and lavender were a perfect match for this sweet Easter photo. I really love how the grey grounds and accents the soft colors without being over powering.



All the glittery chipboard accents inspired me to give the lavender quilled flowers a misting of Perfect Pearls to add some sheen.

DESIGNER TIP | Misting caused the shape to change a bit. To whip them back into shape, I just used the quilling tool again by grabbing the middle and re-rolling them a bit when they were dry.



Layers, layers, layers! This design has no paper other than the base papers. I used lots of foam to layer the chipboard instead. I love shapes and the chipboard set is filled with them.

DESIGNER TIP | Vary the heights of the chipboard and be sure to overlap elements for interest. Looping ribbon over and under in different places also gives a pretty extra touch.

I finished off the page by adding a few glittery buttons and threading them with embroidery floss.

A Scrapbook Page Inspired by a Sheet of Paper

Have you ever been inspired to create a scrapbook page because of a piece of paper? Designer Jana Eubank was energized by one sheet of paper in our Graceful Season 12 x 12 Paper Pad and how she used that paper on her layout is inspiring as well!

Hi Everyone! Jana Eubank here. I am back with another scrapbook page featuring the Graceful Season collection. The soft florals and pretty colors of this collection have me in the mood for Spring and so I grabbed some sunny photos of my daughter and one of her favorite stuffed animals to scrapbook.

As I was flipping through the 12 x 12 Premium Paper Pad I was particularly drawn to the sheet of paper with the large multi-colored chevron print. I decided that I wanted to cut this shape out and use it as a fun background for my page design. I cut the blue “v” stripe from both sheets of paper and then layered them together in opposite directions to create the diamond shape behind my photo grouping. The graphic diamond shape against the soft floral paper has my heart going pitter-patter!



The smaller photo on my page fit perfectly inside of this shimmery, sparkly stamp frame found in the Graceful Season Sticky Sparkly Glitter & Foil Set. I added a couple of banner strips and a dimensional flower accent from the 3D Embellishment Kit to the bottom corner



I used small detail scissors to cut out the large floral element of the cream woodgrain paper and placed this in the corner of my photo block. I layered the “On the Daily” dimensional sticker on top of a chipboard circle from the Sticky Sparkly Glitter & Foil set to give my embellishment a little more presence in the corner of my photo.



Finally, I added some machine stitching around the edges of the few of the elements to give the edges more presence and a bit of texture.

Our Story Home Decor

Hello everyone! Juliana here from 17turtles. I love to create home decor pieces using my paper crafting and scrapbooking supplies. How about you? Have you ever tried something like this?

Today I'm sharing with you how easy it is to decorate a simple wooden frame using the 3 Birds Studio Graceful Season collection.  I started with a simple wooden frame. This one was in my stash of things to "alter", but any plain, flat surfaced frame will work.

Before going any farther, I went through my Graceful Season 3D Embellishment Kit and selected the "Our Story" sticker to place inside the frame instead of a photo. This sticker helped guide the rest of my choices when it came to decorating the frame.

My next step was to select a piece of coordinating patterned paper to cover the frame. Once I had chosen the paper I wanted to use, I adhered it to the frame using my Scotch ATG Gun. I then used a X-acto knife to remove the excess paper around the outside edge and inside the opening of the frame. I used a brown ink and sponge applicator to ink the edges of the paper.

To fill the opening, I selected a piece of gold foil and another coordinating piece of patterned paper and trimmed them to fit inside the opening of the frame where a photo would normally be placed. I then adhered a strand of gold sequin trim around the outside edge of the frame using hot glue. To complete the frame, I added the two floral stickers from the 3D Embellishment Kit. I just love the gold foil accents and dimensional quality of these stickers!

Quilled Cupcake Pinterest Inspiration

Hopefully you have enjoyed our week of Pinterest Inspiration here on the 3 Birds Studio Blog! Our final Pinterest project is such a sweet treat. Designer Katrina Hunt was inspired by a quilled cupcake image she found to create her own quilled cupcake birthday card. It's so yummy, you're going to want to make one too!

Pinterest….so full of ideas, but where to start? It’s Katrina on the blog here today to share my Pinterest inspiration project. I also have a few steps on how to recreate my project!

This pin is where I got my inspiration for my card. I had decided I wanted to do a quilling project, so I just typed that into my search box and this happened to pop up.

If you aren’t sure what quilling looks like, well here is a shot of me starting on one of the coils for the cupcake wrapper.

I glued two 12 inch strips of the yellow quilling paper that comes in the Graceful Seasons Quilled Cardmaking kit and then rolled to the end.

Note: All quilled pieces on the card are done with two of the 12 inch strips glued together.

Once rolled I then placed the yellow coils into the size 3 hole on the template that is included in the kit. I dabbed a little spot of glue on the end of the strip before I placed the coil in the template. By using the template, all your coils will be approximately the same size. You will have to fuss with them a little to get them the way you want them, just be patient. Once I had them the way I wanted, I brushed them with a white school glue thinned down with water, so they would hold their shape.

After I got the 12 coils for the wrapper rolled, I figured out exactly how I wanted the front of my card to look. I really liked this card base, but the window was precut. I just took a piece of paper from the 6x6 Graceful Season Mini Pad, added some ribbon and covered the window up.

Here is the wrapper up close after being finished. I also used some of the die cuts from the kit for my sentiment. They were perfect!



I then set to work on the “icing” on the cupcake. My original plan was to follow my pin and just do coils. But I accidentally pinched the first coil when I took it out of the template and then I decided to change to the teardrop shape. The pink strips were done the same, except I used the number 2 on the template.



I laid the pink coils out, moved them around and put them together like puzzle pieces, until I was happy with the look. I then decided to add a candle for fun. I just rolled a small piece of paper into a tube. And then I cut a small piece of quilling strip to make the flame. I just added some glue on the end and placed the ends down in the tube.



Here you can see the candle close up. I added some additional quilled pieces on top just to create some dimension to the icing.



A quick little punched border strip and my card was complete! Here is the complete cupcake close up.

Cupcake Pinterest Inspiration

Welcome, as we continue our week of Pinterest Inspiration! We hope you have been enjoying how our designers are sharing things that inspire them with their scrapbooking and paper crafting projects. Today, Designer Robbie Herring shares how a photo of some cupcakes inspired an amazing scrapbook page!

Hi everyone! It's Robbie today. I'm excited that we are sharing projects that are inspired by all the wonderful things we find on Pinterest! I love that site and I probably spend entirely too much time on it. I affectionately refer to it as a time sucker. When I log on, I find that time just has a way of disappearing. It's weird... I would swear that I was just on it for a little while, but somehow, my clock will forward and hour or two!

With all the inspiration out there, it was hard to choose what to use. Since cupcakes are all the rage right now, I decided to use this photo as my inspiration to create a scrapbook page. In addition to the layout that I came up with based on some elements in the inspiration photo, I also have a card to share on my blog today at Just The Scrap. I hope you'll stop by and check it out!

Starting with circles that mimic the tops of the cupcakes seemed appropriate. Circles are such an easy thing to cut and placing them in a grid pattern gives you a simple background design.

Because my design was so linear, I printed two photos and layered and tilted them. I wanted to draw the eye to the photo, as well as to give my design an element that wasn't perfectly aligned for added interest.



Although I changed the colors I used from the colors used in the inspiration photo, I kept the basic idea of using just a few colors for my color palette.

I added stitching in place of icing and mimicked the design of the swirls on one of the cupcakes. The quilled roses and leaves were perfect for roses to finish off the design. I used two strips of scalloped paper to make this large rose.

The title pieces are already glittered and ready to use, so I just layered them right on top of the lower circles.



Again, I layered chipboard and quilled roses. In this photo you can also see the green circle. Since this paper had lines on it, instead of using the lines in the inspiration photo that went from the center out, I chose to make my lines diagonally. It still has the feel of the inspiration photo, but worked better with the paper that I chose.



Finally, I'm a sucker for polka dots and I didn't want to leave out one of my favorite things! I thought about using pearls or even painting dots, but ultimately chose to use more quilled paper. I cut some strips into fourths and quilled them tight for dots.

Tic-Tac-Toe Pinterest Inspiration

Hi friends, and welcome back to Pinterest week here on the 3 Birds Studio blog. For my Pinterest inspired project, I made this fun Tic-Tac-Toe board and place markers.



I saw this cute Tic-Tac-Toe board made of paper and felt, and thought it would be fun to make, but I didn’t have any felt on hand.

I looked through my stash and found these clear glass pebbles and decided to use them as my “x” and “o” place markers. Of course I had the paper for the game board, that was the easy part ;) I started out by adhering the paper to the glass pebbles using Glossy Accents as my glue. This could also be done with Mod Podge. I covered 1 side of the pebbles with Glossy Accents, and then placed them on 2 different styles of the Graceful Season purple paper.



DESIGNER TIP | Be sure to use plenty of Glossy Accents to completely cover 1 side of your glass pebble, also make sure to push down on the pebble as you place it on your paper to remove any air bubbles.

While the pebbles were drying, I started on my game board by cutting a piece of cardstock into a 9”x9” square, and then used a black marker to draw the lines.



After the pebbles were dry, I cut around each piece. Next, I added my cardstock square to one of the pretty floral patterns from the Graceful Season collection, and did a quick row of machine stitching around the edge.

City Skyline Pinterest Inspiration

Welcome to our second day of Pinterest Inspiration week! Today, Designer Jana Eubank shares how a fun, graphic city skyline image inspired her to create a scrapbook page!

Hi Everyone! Jana Eubank here. This week on the 3 Birds Blog we have been creating projects inspired by images found on Pinterest. I chose to use this image as inspiration for my scrapbook page today.

This image caught my eye with its friendly and quirky city buildings painted in happy, bright colors. These are colors that I haven’t seen combined before and I was anxious to give them a try.



First, I selected papers from the Graceful Season 12 x 12 Premium Paper Pad in the colors found in my inspiration image. I selected papers that were mostly solid in color with subtle patterns.

Next, I used an electronic die cutting machine to cut out the building shapes. I cut the buildings again from gray cardstock to add an offset shadow behind each on. This gives them a little “lift” off of the page and they appear to have more dimension to them. I then accented my cute, city scene with glittery stars and sparkly clouds from the Graceful Season Sticky Sparkly Glitter & Foil Set. Pearl stickers from my stash give it a more feminine touch.



I really love that the Glitter & Foil set includes four different alphabets in varying colors and sizes. It makes it easy to create interesting title by mixing two or more fonts together. Here I have used the silver foil alphabet combined with the glittery, purple alphabet … delicious!
